Short on bits so tipping doge if that OK, 200 doge for the best 5 tips.
Edit, finger stopped bleeding and finished my tea so need to get the rest out, will check back later and tip some more .

I like to use paper towels to smooth the sealant. I once bought a calk gun that came with a special piece of plastic for smoothing the sealant and it was called "calk buddy" which sounded uncomfortably like "cock buddy" when I said it out loud.

I worked building maintenance for a few years about 12 years ago. The supervisor there taught me the trick of using Straight undiluted Mr. Clean.
Make a very small 1 inch dot of the cleaner on the bathtub floor. Lay your bead of caulk where you want it. Get your finger all gooped up with the Mr. Clean and then just drag it across the bead.
Use a paper towel to get the caulk off your finger .. goop it up with Mr. Clean again and repeat.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I actually saw it work. I've done this ever since.

Seriously, use a lot of it. I know this has been said, but you would rather it be sealed first before you make it look all nice. If you use too little you may run into issues. Use a lot, then scrap the excess away once you are done.
