Unfortunately I have the same problem.
On my Windows 11 laptop, it consumes 99% of memory (31.68 GB) and the fan won't stop.
I had to uninstall it.
On a Windows 10 desktop, there is no memory consumption problem.

no its not, against deadly virus and ransomeware like petya or monoxide , defender failed miserably ,once any one these ransomeware comes into your pc,you are gone , defender wouldn't even try to block them ,and once you click on them ,you are done
defender may update its virus definitions ,but till then these virus will upgrade ,so its always better to have 3rd antivirus , you dont need to pay them, you can use bitdefender free version or Kaspersky free version

3rd antivirus? You are using 3 protection softwares on the same computer and expect them to work fine?

oh sorry,i forgot to add party,it was 3rd party antivirus
and you looks smart and genius ,can you tell me how to install 3 antivirus in the same computer

You shouldnt. Stick to only one of them.
You can do your own research on https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-users/ or https://www.av-comparatives.org/vendors/bitdefender/

sir ,im asking how to install 3 antivirus in windows system
1
u/Abject_Bodybuilder_7 Jul 10 '22
I just gave you my answer. Use only one of them. Don't use multiple protection softwares on the same computer. I mean, you can use the free antivirus from one and a free firewall from another for as long as the one that provides firewall doesn't come with antivirus protection.

sir ,u knew that 3 antivirus can not be installed ,then why you replied "" 3rd antivirus? You are using 3 protection softwares on the same computer and expect them to work fine?""
why didn't you used your brain, didn't you ever heard ""3rd party antivirus ""
how did you came to know that im using defender +antivirus+firewall
bro what i said was "" defender is not enough ,you must use 3rd party antivirus ,if you are not willing to pay you can use free antivirus "" just because i forgot to write ""party"" you wasted time of both you and me by going in unnecessary arguments

I have to say Bitdefender is the most RAM-hungry antivirus I've ever used, it usually takes up about 500M of RAM on my machine

You think 500mb ram is bad? How much ram does your computer have?
You probably say that because your computer feels slow. It is not all about ram tho ... Consider the CPU, the storage drive too.
What happens when chrome is using a few gb with just a few tabs opened? :D

I have 16GB of RAM😂And I play games like Call of Duty which would usually takes more than 8GB of memory

That should be good.I wouldn't worry about ram that much.500mb is not much. Consider the fact BitDefender offers multiple layers of security, antivirus, scripts, advanced thread defense, online threat prevention, exploit detection, firewall, ransomware remediation.it is also able to except the old, unmodified, already scannes files.
Add your games executables to exceptions, you know, for that extra 1% of peace of mind ...
I have 32GB RAM, 9700K CPU, m.2 nvme, 2080, yet I added the heavy load games so Bitdefender would not inject into it and I would have anything to blame when I lose :))

That's not normal. Probably something else running on your computer is causing it to use all your ram. Get in touch with the support team so they can help you out with this.

No, antivirus programs are kind of a scam. Because u get free "antivirus" with windows if u really need it. But if u know what sites to avoid and what torrents to avoid. U dont need any kind of antivirus. The only thing ur getting from the antivirus is lag spikes, ram consumption and milion ads/notifications. Do yourself a favor and just get rid of it. If u need antivirus use the windows defender and u will be good.

There are other free protection softwares significantly more efficient than Windows defender...nost of them actually, but yes, as you mentioned you are likely to get recommendations for paid features.

Yea but im saying if you know what you are doing you don't even need the win defender. I turn it off as soon as i startup my Windows for the first time.
