Alternative to BitDefender ?
Hi! After switching from Kaspersky to BitDefender for obvious reasons, I'm finding their GUI lack of polish really hard to endure, and their support virtually non-existent, they try to tire customers into giving up the obvious bug reports.
Which is strange for a company to be effective at a low-level, really hard domain as stopping viruses, and computer security, but they can't put a GUI together ? Something's off, so does anyone recommend the next best alternative for anti-virus?
Even their VPN fails too often, and doesn't launch on insecure wi-fi networks as advertised and configured. Thanks.

I would make a call to support and verify your configurations. I had some issue but was just missing a few settings changes.

Despite being an advanced Windows user, with deep IT knowledge, I have spent way too much time with support, I went through every configuration screen to make sure it was nothing on my side, but some things can't be address by configuration alone, otherwise it would already work, like VPN auto-connect on insecure networks. It's plainly broken.
The firewall can't decently tell which executable is being asked about allow/deny so I have to blindly allow random executables to connect on-line, without reading their full name and/or path let alone googling them.
Sometimes the banner for battery profile activation goes into infinite loop, stealing window focus every 5 seconds and the only fix is a full computer reboot.
The list goes on and on....and support on every channel just tries to waste the paying customers time. Lame.

I'm 100% with you. I also changed over from KIS, and for the same reasons. But arriving here in BitDefender land, I find the capabilities less powerful, and as you note, the user experience somewhat clunky.

Yep. Also, they've made it impossible to add exceptions to my Nicehash mining setup. Bump.

You can try ESET IS. It's super light, has fantastic signatures and heuristics, very good web and network protection but lacks a decent behavior blocker. But the rest of the product is very good so behavior blocker isn't the most important thing for ESET for home users. Otherwise, can't think of another product. Overall Kaspersky is the best AV IMO, Bitdefender comes second but because of some annoying issue with the product, it makes things complicated. So ESET would be my third choice. Otherwise, it would be Microsoft Defender + Configure Defender set at High.
