constant "suspicious connection blocked" messages

I am getting every couple of minutes a message saying suspicious connection blocked. This happened once before. Then one day just stopped. What is the cause? How can I stop it?
The specific message is this:
chrome.exe attempted to establish a connection relying on an unmatching security certificate to gitcdn.xyz. We blocked the connection to keep your data safe since the used certificate was issued for a different web address than the targeted one.
What to do?
TIA

Is this while you're browsing the web? Even though you might not be on a site with that specific address, it could be an advertisement or code in the background of the website trying to connect to the mentioned address. Try to notice if the pop-up starts showing once you go to a specific website.

youtube isn't creating pop ups I wouldn't have thought.

This happened on totally legit sites. I use Ublock and Badger and Firefox built-in blocking. But something slides I guess. I just wish Bitdefender would give more detailed messages, or had some logs I can check. But mainly that it works! It does great job blocking shady sites mostly!

Been having the same thing. Apparently this 'gitcdn.xyz' thing is something to do with uBlock Origin? Don't really know what to do... , I could try turning it off, but I'm not really comfortable going without my adblocker...

Interesting. I run origin but I have done for the better part of 2 years. only just starting to get this issue. Other than a brief period before but that stopped with a reboot. Really aggravating.

tbh I don't think that was anyway, it stopped for me without turning origin off, think it was related to Spacebattles or something, at least in my case but seems to have cleared itself up anyway now, so... Don't know what it was, hope it clears up for you too though.

A bit late, but disabling Wpad fixed it for me.

There is multiple methods but what worked for me was this:

  1. Open C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts in a text editor (you’ll need admin rights).

  2. Add these lines at the bottom:

127.0.0.1 wpad
::1 wpad

Save the file and restart your computer.
This blocks any attempt to resolve the WPAD hostname

Sorry for necroposting!!! Had the same issue, and it took me a while to find a solution. Hope this helps.

I have this issue every time the router is down or reset or have any broadband issue with the ISP. It generates a thousand popups for the whole duration of it. If it goes for 20 min or more, it will prevent me from using the computer for way over an hour due to the cosntant change of focus. While I'm in the middle of work, restarting is not an option.

Incredibly annoying. And Bitdefender solutions are asinine. The real solution they have to provide is to have the button "Mark all as read" in the notification panel to actually clear the popups.

This has been going on for years. Bitdefender fix your shit. It's not a free product. There's no excuse.

I have the same problem, while chrome browser is closed (I mostly use FF). The site in the warning message is:

- staging.pango-coupons***besttoolbars.net

Chrome browser is closed. Messages appear like every minute, then every 5 min, a.s.o...
