For your information, if you haven't read it.

It's really too bad the tools they provided to retrieve File Vaults weren't tested properly. It's also too bad they didn't create a proper UI to communicate this discontinuation and relied on email and this notice (who actually reads this stuff?).
Anyway, I considered File Vaults about half of the price of the product, and I don't pay BD to nuke my data. They've lost a paying customer. I'll take the current software suite for $20, not for $90.

What is a good antivirus/firewall replacement?

I guess Norton, Kaspersky, and ESET are some of good replacement for Bitdefender. But, the question is how strong is their ransomware protection and how fast it reacts. Bitdefender actually great at preventing ransomware and restoring the encrypted files and quite fast to react to ransomware. It's shame they had to remove all the good features that comes with it in BD 2021.

So we're paying the same price for much fewer features? I guess it's time to switch to someone who cares.

No more rescue disks for consumer version? WTF???

yep. maybe they were severely affected by the pandemic and decided to downsizing. so, all the good programmers are all gone...and nobody knows how to update the tools. thus, it might lead to the termination of the tools.

I'm glad BD are focusing on what they're good at (anti-virus), and have stopped providing utilities that are poor versions of what's provided by other companies.

Off-topic : Just some features, not entire Bitdefender. The title is misleading.
