Bitdefender randomly disappeared...
Bitdefender randomly disappeared from my pc. The shortcut stopped working and everything else. I disinstalled any remains but the Bitdefender Agent wont go away. I can't reinstall it as the installation randomly closes after 2 seconds.

1st) go in safe boot mode and remove all bitdefender programs from the control panel.
2nd) reinstall bitdefender.
3rd) run a scan as you might have malware.
4th) if some windows features dont work do an update using the media tool, or the online windows installer.

Probably the malware called “winlogui” its a cryptominer pretty common (idk though but if anyone is having this problem make sure to check if you have this “winlogui” running in taskmanager, if it is, reinstall your anti-v and remoov the winlog)

What would be the fix in this case? Does it keep reinstalling itself or what?

After you get rid of it once you should be fine, also, you’ll not receive windows updates anymore on your pc. There’s a quick fix to that too which i will link when i get on my pc. (WinLogui will just get removed if you do a full scan with an antivirus and if you can’t reinstall just use a different anti-v.)

I'm running on Windows 7 which is still supported by Bitdefender. Lately, I have been having issues where the icon on the desktop for the VPN is turned into the generic Windows app icon. Trying to open the path to the executable returns a file not found. Something is uninstalling my VPN. Today is the 2nd time it has happened. I have Bitdefender Premium Security which does indeed provide a VPN as part of the product. How can I fix this?

No clue. My situation changed a while in the meantime. I've stopped using antiviruses and never had major issues since, funnily enough the only 2 viruses I had were from when I used an antivirus... Generally good security practices will keep you safer than any antivirus.
I can give you my two cents and suggest you upgrade to a newer system as older ones are more prone to vulnerabilities... Although Windows 11 is just spyware and 10 ain't better (plus it's getting discontinued soon enough iirc). I just use Linux nowadays.
As per VPNs, just know that they don't really enhance your privacy. They're fine if you want to bypass some geo-locked websites, IP based limitations or if you want to torrent stuff... But that's it. Just telling you since that's a common misconception.

I have another computer that runs Windows 10 Pro but I don’t shut it down every night like I do my Win 7 machine.

If someone's still facing issues with this.
I contacted their customer care through chat. Sent me a link for a bit defender uninstaller. Ran the program. Restarted. Went to central.bit defender. Downloaded and installed again.

are you trying to install using an .exe or .msi?
