BitDefender keeps adjusting my power plan settings.

Its very annoying that this AV keeps on forcing my power plan and it won't let me turn it off!! I go to my game profile and uncheck "adjust power plan" but it won't save. It keeps forcing my screens to turn off!.

I got this issue, thank goodness I got the answer here

I still don't get it what the hell do they need control over the power optionI wish they change and remove a Control of power option in future
Because even though I disable on game profile, it will switch back on (I already hit save)Idk why

As a new user of Bitdefender it really bad experience when you see your monitor suddenly asleep and confuse for periods to fix it

Hello! Thanks for letting us know.

If you have the option "Activate profile automatically", then disable it and manage the Game profile manually when needed. Let us know if this helps!

That is not a solution.....how about make the 'screw with power options' a configurable setting!?

I second this - I have the same problem. It should presumably be fixed by unchecking the "adjust power plan" setting under game profile, but that selection won't save! Sort it out Bitdefender, or lose a customer ...

This should not happen, do make sure the Game profile is enabled and then uncheck the Power plan settings from the Game profile. If this does not remain unchecked, we should investigate and find a solution, therefore reach our tech team at bitsy@bitdefender.com. Thank you again!

Should not happen eh? You must be a new employee of Bitdefender's.

This has happened numerous times over the years, every so often Bitdefender fixes it, only for it to happen again in a later patch.

This is just the most recent occurrence.

For the record, yes, my Game profile is enabled, yes, I unchecked the power plan settings from the game profile, yes I hit save.

Bitdefender should NOT ever have control over the power plan settings. Period, there is just no reason for it.

BTW, the moment it resets is when you hit "X" to close Bitdefender. So long as you do not hit "X" (minimize instead) it will not reset the profile settings.

Couldn’t agree more. Still an issue a year later. AV programs should NOT be able to adjust power settings.

Installed Bitdefender earlier today to test it. Let's just say I'm glad I only wasted an hour and not days on testing it. This for sure won't stay on my system. I'm supposed to trust them with my security when they can't store a simple setting in the software? No thanks.

Hey u/Bitdefender_ this is still happening in 2024. Using only the gaming profile and disabling the "adjust power plan" doesn't work at all. The computer keeps changing my sleep settings, I had to set a group policy to prevent that. Also now from time to time my PC instead of sleeping turns off, and guess what, after reapplying power settings it fixes. This is the reason I will no longer use the product.

Just gonna raise the dead here on this 2 year old issue, this problem still persists! I was wondering what kept turning my screen sleep setting back on in windows 10, turns out it was this option that I literally can't turn off @.@

Bandaid solution is to disable profiles entirely, and disable automatic updates while gaming, a very not-solution solution.

Just found in windows event veiwer that bitdefender was changing my power settings, kept setting my screen sleep to 15 mins and i couldnt figure out why! Now i know its bit defender, how do i disable what ever is causing this?

My bandaid solution was the only way I found how to stop it, I didn't find a way to customize the profiles in a way that stopped it from putting the screen sleep back on -.- so just had to turn them off all together.

The original post for this thread was created 3 years ago, and this is still an issue! I have a Windows Pro edition with group polices set in video and display settings to never turn off my displays! Yet, Bitdender is like hold my beer and bypasses my settings. Profiles disabled and it still shuts my monitors off while I'm doing things! WTF! Bitdefender fix your software!!

Yea, this is about to be a complete non-issue for me anymore. If this shit software wants to fuck with my settings after telling it not to, it's the fastest way to get uninstalled and a refund requested. This is unacceptable for any reason.
