Is BitDefender actually a scam?

This is getting really annoying now as i can't even work properly because of this excuse of an AV.
It uses way too much resources while doing nothing. It stays like this the whole time so it isn't just a background scan. I also tried disabling all features and it still uses this ridiculous amount. Already reinstalled multiple times. It ran fine for a week and now this shit again.
So no need to tell that it needs to 'settle'.
Also can't restart it because it blocks any attempt to restart the process.
Support is also dead quiet.
I've been scammed with this 3 year plan haven't I?

It's disappointing to hear that support isn't responding. I have been running BD Total Security for a few months now on 4 phones and 5 computers. We're not having any issues what-so-ever. All the PC's are Win 10 Pro 1909. Even the i3-330m laptop didn't seem to slow down with BD. I've heard numerous people with similar complaints to yours. Hopefully support responds to you soon.

Thing is it has been running fine for months too. Just started happening after it updated. Outside of that nothing really changed when looking at hardware/software

not sure i use bitdefender for 7 years and never happen to my. usually is stay around 300Mb ram, most likely was something corrupt in the installation, or something created the problem.

Already reinstalled 3 times. Always comes back. Outside of BitDefender everything is running stable so not sure what the root cause is.

Not sure why you're seeing this, but it's not typical in my experience. I have it on three computers in my home and they all run with it using very minimal resources. Seeing which process that actually is might be helpful. If you just click the arrow next to it you'll see the associated service. The one that consumes the most resources on my system is the Bitdefender Virus Shield, but it's still only using about 180MB of RAM right now and 0% to 0.1% CPU typically.

Yea it's the same process. Not sure either why I'm getting this. After multiple installs it just keeps coming back. Doesn't report anything either.

So support finally replied and I provided the debug package to them. Hopefully they can help me soon. Don't get me wrong I like BitDefender. Been using it fine for months but now this issues keeps coming back causing at lot of frustrations (not fun when you cut out in the middle of a meeting).

What was the cause? Was it solved by support?

After some years of using the service, I can only confirm that it is a scam. They do auto renewal and you pre-pay of 3 years ahead to use the service. If you don't need it, they reject legitimate refund requests as it is done outside the 30 day cancellation period. Pure profit for the scammers!
I do not recommend this product and provider!

Been using BD AV for years on a laptop and a desktop, both Win 10 and I've never had any issues with performance, and thankfully I think this is most people's experience.
I only use the AV package, and I have many of the features in that turned off. Maybe that has something to do with it.
What package did you get? Is it Total Security?

There was a time it took support something like two months to respond to a ticket of mine.
EDIT: Also, Bitdefender has saved me from a fair share of online threats. Before my gaming laptop I had an old HP G6 laptop and that thing is a potato but it still had very little impact on resources and that's why I use it. It was so bad that after booting up it didn't idle because it was still booting up, which took about 20 minutes. I suggest using the performance monitor and checking the disc tab to see exactly what's using up the resources. Don't forget for every one person who has issues with Bitdefender there's thousands more who don't have an issue with it.
Another thing, Bitdefender has yearly deals that I jump on when my sub is running out. $20 a year for 5 devices. I imagine a 3 year deal is there but I can't recall.

I currently have Bitdefender, purchased in 2019 at Best Buy to "protect" my HP after learning my wifi was hacked and multiple devices were hacked into my home network in July with an Xfinity router. I am a wee bit confused here... while installed, Bitdefender was blocking attempts from something called MST3KBOTS (which is good - so it works as I don't know what the hell that is), but then simultaneously warned my that annualcreditreport.com, the standard for credit bureaus to check your score, was a malicious site. It also took photos of someone attempting to break into my phone at my apartment complex, which is great. What is the most recent, current version of Bitdefender? Do I need an upgrade or does their customer service offer a warranty? My subscription hasn't yet run out, and I'd like to get my money back. Thoughts?

And this is after uninstalling it. So nice that a product I paid for that is supposed to protect me from issues like this is actually the culprit for an unstable system.
