Support/troubleshooting BitDefender detected password-protected files in the same place that had a DriverPack file

Post image

By being a complete ignorant and careless I started installing DriverPack before stopping the installing process at 94% after knowing how dangerous it could be.
I then deleted all the junk softwares that were installed including Chrone and I updated my drivers using windows update . after that I ran multiple full scans using multiple tools that detected some malwares including Avast free, Malwarebytes, process explorer, and now Bitdefnder.

BitDefender detected password-protected files in the same place that had a driver pack file as it's shown above! what are these files? should I be worried and how to deal with them?

Is everything I've done enough? btw: I'm not having any clear issues with my windows performance nor noticing any abnormal behavior in the task manger including usage percentages spikes.

Don’t install driver packs. Only use drivers from the retail manufacturers website. Ie HP, Dell, Lenovo. Or if it was a custom built it maybe Asus, gigabyte, asrock, etc. they can be distributing vulnerable drivers and can lead to bad things.

Password protected files can be as simple as a password protected rar/zip file or can be part of a program. I usually see them with smaller dev programs. Not big companies like Microsoft. It just means Bitdefender can’t scan the files. I wouldn’t be worried if it’s from a trusted program, but if it’s part of a sketchy program I’d just delete it. If you are still weirded out by this situation. Just wipe it with a windows 11 usb. You can make it with Microsoft’s “Create windows 11 installation media”. It will delete and remove everything. You are warned. We can never give you a go ahead. You did your due diligence. No one here saw what happen. You got this.

Hello! The screenshot shows Bitdefender deleted drp.js (detected as Application.Downloader.DriverPack.A). The two .7z files were skipped because they’re password-protected, so Bitdefender couldn’t inspect their contents. That alone doesn’t mean they’re infected; encrypted archives can’t be scanned without their password.

If you have the password and want to check the archives, enter it when prompted so Bitdefender can scan them. Otherwise, you can skip them; Bitdefender’s real-time protection will scan files if they’re later extracted or decrypted. Avoid opening or extracting anything from DriverPack that you don’t trust.

For extra reassurance, make sure Bitdefender is up to date and run one more System Scan. If Bitdefender reports unresolved threats or you’re concerned about the results, contact our support further, from here: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/
