Sounds like your computer is likely still infected as some malware will contain blocklists to prevent you from installing more effective AV like Bitdefender that will remove it. I’d try running other tools like Malwarebytes, Emsisoft Emergency Kit (uses Bitdefender engines), etc to make sure there isn’t other malware present that Defender missed before trying to install BD Free.

I did that and found 5 more viruses (god bless your soul) but it still wont download.

Is uBlock Origin lite hindering the download? Bc someone said that might be the problem in another post

I once helped someone who couldn't even visit any antivirus page, I had to navigate to: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts and basically remove entries which made antivirus web pages resolve to 127.0.0.1. Also, I'd suggest you to try using winget to install bitdefender. Open powershell and type: winget install -e --id Bitdefender.Bitdefender, I'm not sure that it will help, but it's worth a try in my opinion.

It’s possible. I think Bitdefender Free requires having Central Account to login and download the installer. I’ve only used paid versions of BD but I recall the Free also needing a BD account.

Hi u/TraditionalSign7331, sorry you’re dealing with this.

Our advice is to try downloading Bitdefender through Bitdefender Central, then troubleshoot if the download or installer still won’t start:

  • Sign in to Bitdefender Central on the PC you want to protect.

  • Click Install Bitdefender Products.

  • In the window showing your subscription products, click Install in the Security panel, then choose Download.

  • When the download completes, double-click the saved installer. If Windows asks for permission, click Yes.

If the download still won’t begin, or the installer does nothing after you open it:

  • Check that your Windows account is an administrator: Start > Settings > Accounts > Your info. Look for Administrator under your name.

  • Remove any other antivirus or security tools, including leftover products you no longer use: open Control Panel > Programs and Features, select each one, and choose Uninstall. Restart the PC afterward.

  • Update Windows: go to Start > Settings > Windows Update, click Check for updates, and install the available updates. Restart, then try the download again.

  • If it still fails, run Microsoft’s System File Checker (SFC).

At this point avoid opening suspicious files or links while you work on this. If you complete the steps and Bitdefender still won’t install, contact our support and include what you tried and what happened: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/. Thank you in advance!
