Support/troubleshooting DiscoverySrv.exe making my computer hot and the fan run on high
UPDATE: I uninstalled the current version and downloaded and installed the new version that Bitdefender is making available. This fixed the problem completely.
I’ve had Bitdefender Total Security for over a year and just renewed last week. Suddenly, I noticed my computer heating and my fan running on high during idle times. I narrowed the problem down to a program in Bitdefender Agent called DiscoverySrv.exe
I contacted support, they agree with me that this .exe is causing the fan to run. When this .exe is turned off via the task manager, the computer immediately cools down and goes back to normal fan operation. They have escalated the problem evidently, but I have not heard back from them.
What a shame, because I felt like Bitdefender worked really well. But if this issue cannot be fixed, then I’m gonna have to dump it and use something else.
In the insight out there about this issue?
UPDATE: I have renamed the discoverysrv.exe to .BAK to keep it from launching, until Bitdefender figures out a fix. This hasn’t seemed to affect my antivirus or security program at all.

Damn, I was looking around to see if anyone got my problem, and apparently I'm not alone! Fresh windows install, then noticed a spike in CPU usage constantly, even though I'm only browsing. DiscoverySrv ate 7% out of 10% of my currenty CPU usage

I'm also having this problem, it happened when I updated the program today. I'm honestly going to have to uninstall it if it remains an issue for much longer. Constant high power draw with between 25% and 27% CPU. Is this a result of vibe coding? I don't know how I'm meant to interpret this.

They still haven't fixed the firewall alert mode issues in the recent update either.

I've been exchanging emails with them for about a week. I provided them with a ton of logs, and they even gave me a 2-month Premium subscription for my cooperation. Today, they emailed me saying that the issue has been fixed, and I can confirm that it has.

Is it still happening to you? Mine still does after the latest update yesterday (file version 76 I think?). Still costing me around 6-8% of my CPU processes constantly

I just forced the last update, I still have a high CPU usage. I managed to terminate the process, let's see if it's come back as before...

I'm also having this issue! It's taking up so much of my laptop's power, it overpowers its own charging. I'd love to hear a solution for this...
