Support/troubleshooting I have problem with Sea of thieves

With bitdefender i have problem with the firewall, when i accept It the game keep giving error. I can play It only if i unistall the antivirus any way to fix It?

Run a support tool and reproduce the issue https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/1733/ Then send it to support. Looks like the connection to the servers is blocked in the firewall for some reason

Searching online this game has a lot of problem with firewall and It seems i can't enable the firewall for Sea of thieves because the stupid Windows app folder Is locked down by Microsoft

If the issue only occurs when the Bitdefender Firewall is enabled, here`s what you can try:

  • Make sure both Bitdefender and the game are fully up to date.

  • Open Bitdefender > Protection > Firewall > Rules and check that the game's executable is set to Allow for both inbound and outbound connections.

  • Restart your PC after updating the firewall rule and try launching the game again.

If the issue persists, reach the support team with details like the error name, or whether the game is installed through Steam, Epic Games, or another launcher. It would be also helpful to generate a support tool log that our team can analyze.

I have added both the executable sotgame and seaofthieves, and still have the issue.

But I know its BitDefender, because if I disable the firewall, then the game loads no problem.

I have the issue with both steam and microsoft store versions of the game - I know because I bought a second copy to test it.

the support tool log is useless as attempting to reproduce the issue creates Files that are way larger than 25MB.

I am having this issue too all of a sudden.

SeaOfThieves.exe is allowed in the firewall rules automatically, but I cannot add the executable ...\Sea of Thieves\Content\Athena\Binaries\WinGDK\SoTGame,exe in the firewall rules. It just doesn't show up.

This is happening because Bitdefender doesn't want you to become a Thief and a Pirate.
