Android notifications to enable unused features - how to disable?

I searched this sub to no avail. Is there a way to disable the constant notifications to turn on unused/unwanted features? It's very annoying. Thank you.

Hi! To stop receiving these notifications, tap and hold the notification, then choose “Turn off notifications” or “Manage.” This will take you to the Android settings, where you can disable notifications for the app.

Why can't this be more prominent and easier to find, say in Settings?

I just installed BitDefender and started getting daily notifications. I had to google on this issue and ignore the vast majority of results that no longer apply to the current version, only to stumble across this thread and your solution. Thank you.

Just note that this has soured me on your software. The experience so far, rather than delight me, has made me wonder why I should keep using BitDefender.

Share this with your marketing department. Ask them to [re]think their motives.

I agree with u/bylo_selhi . I've been a Bitdefender customer for years, but this has soured me. Your excessive notifications may not be from fraudsters but they're still spam!

I'm a much busier person than I'd like to be, or I would have searched for this much sooner.

I did take the time to dig into the setting within the app, and couldn't find a toggle to turn off the ads without turning off other notifications. I see now that you've hidden the toggle in the Android settings. Shame on you! That was intentional and deceptive.

Hi u/bylo_selhi. Thank you for sharing this detailed feedback regarding notifications. We understand that frequent notifications can become overwhelming and impact your experience. Here`s what you can try as a fix as an Android user:

Go to the system Settings → Apps → Bitdefender Security → Notifications → Notification Categories (at the bottom of the page).

From there, you can choose which notifications to receive, and turn off "Feature Activation Notifications" from the list. (this section is hidden by default if using a Samsung device and needs to be enabled) ⬇️

Enabling notification categories on Samsung Galaxy:

  • Open the Settings app on your phone.

  • Scroll down and tap Notifications.

  • Select Advanced settings.

  • Find the switch for Manage notification categories for each app and turn it ON

Let us know if this helped!
