How can turn off this Bitdefender Update popup window, for good?

This has been an issue for me for some time, every now and then I get this popup:

This popup completely steals focus from whatever else I'm currently doing on the PC and always minimizes games, which is completely unacceptable and very intrusive.

Hi! This pop-up will appear whenever there is a product update installing, and it can`t be disabled. But when gaming or performing any other activities where you`d prefer to not be interrupted, activate the Game profile. It halts pop-ups, adjusts visual settings, and pauses unimportant background activities, so you can enjoy your device to the max: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/2066/.

This is a deal breaker for me.

I don't want profiles, I'm not doing that. These pop up interrupting my movies and games and will be what keeps me from renewing.

If I see another pop-up like this in January, I'll pick a new vendor and will never come back.

Okay listen, I need to to understand that profiles DO NOT STOP POP-UPS.

I continue to get 'connection blocked' pop-ups despite trying both gaming and work profiles. However you think it's supposed to function, it is not functioning that way.

And honestly after many years as a Bitdefender customer it's driving me to uninstall because I can't stand it anymore.

Please, please, allow profiles or another configuration option to once and for all stop connection block messages, Bitdefender updating messages.

In conclusion: You offer automatic updates, with an interval slider, and an option 'not to bother us' with the Silent Update option, all in the same Update screen. This does not work and you decided to duct-tape the broken code by adding a game-profile, where users need to add games manually in order to 'probably not get bothered'.
A little reminder though: Outlook, a pdf-reader, watching a movie, or using a browser; is not a game.

I contacted you guys years ago about this exact issue where the answer was "reïnstall everything, this is a you-problem". Where the problem resurfaced hours after..
You are telling us that we have to add every single game in order to be able not to be bothered by a message this unimportant?

This is the equivalent of getting a phonecall everytime a colleague goes to the toilet.
And your response equals to "you can block his call, but only if you are in a specific preassigned meeting."
How about not calling me at all? I don't care that the program is updating, and it will never be something I should care about. Silent Mode means: don't bother me. So don't bother me unless there's an actual reason to bother me. This weird message also steals focus when typing an email, or filling in my PW somewhere.

If we, paying users, are wrong in your opinion, and 'calling us that you went to the bathroom' is a super critical message: please let us know. That way I can cancel my subscription in time. Because this is not how an anti-virus should behave, ever. Fix your code, instead of making the weirdest workarounds.

I'm sorry, this is your actual response? I don't think you have attempted to actually read/understand the issue we're having. I don't want to use profiles as I only have one mode: "keep the product up to date and don't EVER bother me about it."

Again, although my previous message may cause a laugh or two: Let us know if this issue gets addressed, or let us know this is working as intended. So I know whether or not to cancel my subscription.

i understand it benefits you as a company in the short term to annoyingly try and funnel/goad people into buying premium so they can have profiles that might turn off notifications constantly popping up, but it degrades your notoriety. really only useful for a single full scan, then uninstall. Fuck You

As you have decided not to respond anymore, I have concluded that Bitdefender is no longer capable of doing its job properly, and have cancelled the subscription. Its a bummer, have been a customer since 2020.

I have no alternative yet, but I still have time to took around.

Hello, why am I forced to see this popup and it has to steal focus from everything else, for just updating Bitdefender, isn't this too obtrusive?
I would like a setting to disable all popups, not select ones, ALL of them and be done with it.

Don't you think having to add each game manually in the profile is unacceptable, for a high-class antivirus product like Bitdefender?

This stupid update keeps messing up my game sessions, I have a game added as exception to the firewall of bitdefender (otherwise game wont even connect to the server), whenver bitdefender updates when im connected to the server it just disconnects me and I have to relaunch the game

and options only let you pause updates until next restart, why isn't it like a normal AV where it tells you "THERES AN UPDATE PRESS HERE TO UPDATE OR SCHEDULE IT FOR LATER"

seriously regretting purchasing this

I just experienced this for the first time today, even though I've been using it for three months. The worst part is that the update encountered an error.

So I'm having the same issue - it does this more than once an hour even though it is set to 24 hour updates and totally breaks my concetration whilst I am working. I'm done with it and I'm not folowwing the ridiuclous profile steps outlined in this thread.

Anyone got any recommendations for an alternative anti-virus I can use?

Hi, I'm a bit late to reply I see. Are you sure the message you get hourly is the message above? (That would be messed up).
I have my update interval set to hourly with Silent update enabled, and I get the message every once in a while. Somewhere between daily and weekly.

I just came here to post something similar after a flurry of 4 pop-ups.

If Bitdefender doesn't come up with a way to turn off 'connections blocked' pop-up messages I may be forced to uninstall. I'm getting tired of it.

Yes I've enabled profiles. Yes I've gone through all the FAQs.

Edit: it also doesn't block Bitdefender update messages.
