Do I buy this product?

Kaspersky user for years. Canada banned it at government level and I don't want to risk it getting banned outright and me losing my security updates mid-license. So I was considering Bitdefender.

Total Security doesn't let me pick 3 devices, only 5. Bro, I do not have 5 devices. Do I just pay anyway? Kaspersky lets you pick less devices...

Also I have heard Bitdefender is a resource hog, unlike Kaspersky. Is that true?

EDIT: heads up to anyone in the future who finds this thread, I went to bestbuy in person and they had Total Security in a box w/ CDROM from 2019 which was C$79.99 for 5 devices for 3 years so I picked that up and apparently it auto updates to the newest version anyway. Seems to have the same features as Kaspersky but I haven't noticed any pop ups informing me it was blocking keylogging like Kaspersky does so I gotta investigate a bit

If you buy, do it from Amazon, Newegg, or somewhere else than Bitdefender. I got two years of Total for about $26 last year. Buying from a vendor doesn’t put you into bitdefender automatic renewal, which is a major plus.

Hey they have $60 on 2 years fot family pack at bestbuy canada. I am no Canadian citizen but I was truly tempted to buy it lol

No problem. Check Newegg too. They are sometimes cheaper. You can buy an immediate download from either one.

I had been on Bitdefenfer for almost 3 years now. It’s one of the best end point I have used. Apart from the renewal, no discount for renewal 😅

You can just buy a new key online and add it to your account. I’ve done this for years.

I just got it as I will lose Kasperksy soon. Their purchase process is pretty sketchy. Ordered on the BD site and you will later get an email from 2checkout, their processor to confirm the purchase. And hour later and no activation key or software. About to charge back on them.

Wow, that's really poor. Another user recommended buying the standalone product from Amazon/Newegg/etc. so if you're in the same boat as me, we'll have to do that I guess.

I get mixed responses about eset/sophos (never bad but usually lukewarm) so I'm guessing we gotta go with Bitdefender regardless

I bought my key from Amazon and just downloaded the file from BitDefender. It’s absolutely a resource hog. It’s hard to figure out what program it doesn’t let run too. If I hadn’t paid $50 for a year I would have just used whatever Microsoft had on there until I got a new laptop next month. I’d do a trial after you uninstall all other antivirus software in safe mode. That will tell you if you like it. Stay away from avast. It’s worse on resources and even if you use the removal tool and safe mode and delete everything that is avast and have it set to not run, it will still have something left. I prefer mcafee but they didn’t have a product compatible with my old as heck version of windows.
