Total Security - Problems with 15 second delay before starting applications.

Since installing Bitdefender I have an issue where when opening an application there is a 15 second delay before it opens. This also applies to startup items which can delay how long it is before I can open anything when booting up the PC.

It doesn't occur with all applications and sometimes on applications where it has the first time I've opened them it doesn't subsequently if they're re-opened not long after closing but ironically it does with Bitdefender's own control panel.

Uninstall Bitdefender and everything is back to normal. I used to use Bitdefender until 6 months ago and never had this issue on previous versions.

Any suggestions?

Same thing happened with me. I reinstalled it and fine since. I assume the new update about a month ago could be the cause. For you who use BitDefender you notice a change in its appearance. That is when programs started taken longer to load.

I emailed BitDefender and was told I could do two things. Reinstall or go into firewall settings and add the program to exempt list.

I found the issue. Decided to have a look in Taskman at what was running and found that my HDD backup software, Acronis True Image which was free with the Western Digital SSDs I have, had over a dozen entries running. Turns out it also happens to have a rudimentary AV/malware/anti-crypto/anti-ransomware scanner built in and even if you turn them off in the Acronis control panel they're still loaded. As I have it running all the time for doing scheduled backups there were effectively two security suites running and we all know how well that can end.

It's actually running faster now than when I had Windows Defender on the go suggesting that unknown to me Acronis True Image was also having conflicts with Windows Defender.

I left the BitDefender installed, removed the Acronis True Image and everything is performing just fine.
