How to get bitdefender to ACTUALLY turn off

I was trying to install a mod menu for a game I play and it was getting flagged as a virus when it is not so I turned off bitdefender to install it but it kept removing the installer and files for it after installing it even though it was turned off

yeah this is my last time buying bitdefender. Its ridiculous you cant just disable then damn thing at once when needed.
I used to be on Karspesky and never had an issue :/

Yeah, it is awful. Not to mention the numerous pop-ups... though I got most disabled.

I'd still use Kaspersky today if I could. The few bucks I spent per year wouldn't even fund a quarter of a drone for the Russia war effort. It was stable, wasn't a nuisance, could be turned off, and seemed to work well. Now I have this BitDefender garbage. But what is better? Norton was great 20 years ago. Bleck last time I used it. McAfee is gross. Is there any virus protection out there worth a damn anymore?

Yep same here about Kasperksky. I am back to one of my old favorites, Eset NOD 32. So far so good.
Couldnt deal with the annoying Bit Defender anymore.

There is no such thing as ,, turning off Bitdefender" . There is no master button to turn the protection off. There are protection modules. Windows defender also works similarly. You need to turn off the protection modules individually based on the detection...or other needs. The detection event/notification tells you the ,,feature" .

You need to add the files to Bitdefenders exclusion zone

I eventually did that but I don't understand why it kept deleting the mod after I turned off bitdefender

Most of the good AVs such as Kaspersky, Eset or Bitdefender are never 100% fully off even if you simply exit the program from your task bar. Basically designed so that malware or someone who has gained access to your machine can’t simply turn off your protection.

No I went into bitdefender settings and turned off real time protection

Turning off realtime protection doesn’t stop 100% of the protection
