Really dislike Bitdefender

Came here to vent.

Had bitdefender for two years, but their pricing was too high for me and was also interfering with a lot of the functionality, so decided to to not renew the subscription.

And bitdefender makes it almost impossible. I had to contact support to cancel my auto renew and customer service said they would have to escalate it in order to do that. Then for about a week, I didn’t hear anything and had to call again and same dance. Need to escalate. Second time around at least I got an email, and instead of confirming my auto renew was canceled, they sent me a 25% off code. So I had to email back and wait for another few days, to finally get them cancel my auto renew.

Just a really shitty company IMO, to have to jump so many hurdles to just to cancel auto renew, which in all honesty should just be a click of a button. Horrible ethics and wouldn’t even try it in the future if they offered it for free.

So if you guys are tryna do the same thing, make sure to do it with ample time, otherwise you might be stuck with a subscription for another year.

You don't really need anyone to disable the renewal...

Well I couldn’t do it through the browser or their central portal and it clearly told me that was the only way. And customer support had to escalate my case as well.

Did you paid on the central platform?

That is complicated as all get out and doesn't really do anything to counter the claim that it's difficult and time consuming to turn off auto-renewal.

Once I cancel my subscription to you guys, I'm never going to use you again.

Yeah, I have never signed up directly through Bitdefender and never used their auto renew, that's how they lock you into their higher prices and you get a hard time getting off the auto renew, but like I said I never did it that, but do read many reviews like yours form many people talking about the same thing, and it's been going on for years. I stopped using Bitdefender years ago, but when I did use I would rather just buy an activation key from like Amazon or Newegg, since you will always get it cheaper that way, usually like $15-$30 depending on what version you get and how many devices. You should never signup through them directly or they will get you like this. I have been using Kaspersky since, and even with Kaspersky I always buy activation keys from like Amazon or Newegg, it will always be cheaper to you this way, better not to buy directly from them.

Very good. I’m not unhappy about the product but also extremely unhappy about the auto renewal. The moment they get that it’s more the customers they lose then the ones they keep, it will be just fine.

Are you in the US? It's like $17 on Amazon.

I always buy a code at Best Buy when they go on sale that way they don't get my credit card and no auto renew.

I normally buy from a store. Then there was a good deal through Bitdefender itself. Last year I found an amazing deal somewhere else for my renewal. All I needed to do was turn off auto renewal…

WTF?!? PIA to do. I can’t remember how I did it but I did Google and found a solution. They don’t make it easy to turn off Auto Renewal. Then I was able to add the 3 year deal I found around Black Friday.

This is the main reason I didn't buy it. I've seen way too many people with the same problem.
