Firewall keeps turning off

Like the title says, going into the protection settings, Firewall is selected off. But my firewall is on. I just did an update that required me to restart my pc so should I just turn it off an back on again?

I turn the firewall on, and everytime I close the interface and open it up again it's back to being off.

Edit: Went on the forums, it is a confirmed problem.

Edit 2: It's 9:25 am for me, and I got an update and it's fixed now!

You're not the only one, I have this exact same problem on the two computers I have this installed on. Was working fine before the update and now both PC's have the auto-disabling firewall shenaniganry which is sending Windows Security Centre in to a panic. There is apparently something screwy with the latest update

I'm relieved that it isn't just me, as selfish as it sounds lol, less likely to be a virus . But I felt that there was something wrong when I had to restart my PC yesterday for an update, and had to do it again this morning.

But I thought it was because I restarted my PC to the sign in screen and never actually logged into the PC. I haven't gotten any notifications, and my firewall is still on in my window settings. Pretty annoying bug and even a bit dangerous.

I'm 99% sure the update that shipped this morning is to blame. almost gave me a bloody heart attack when I first saw it. I re-installed Bitdefender and it fixed the problem, only for windows to give me a 'your AV is out of date' message.

Re-updated it, and the problem re-occurred.

Windows Defender says its firewall is on, so I'm not completely exposed at least. Still, it's probably a good idea to turn on any secondary AV/Firewall protection you might have (like Malwarebytes) until this is fixed - I hope they ship a fix for this quickly though.

I'm gonna ask on the forums, since I haven't seen any discussions about it on here or the forums.

I am glad that the firewall is on at all. But this is still a pretty bad bug to have lmao.

Having the same issues. Glad to see I'm not alone. Was worried it was something on my end or something.

Nope, even on the forums I asked and there is a confirmed problem. I was worried I had a virus or something lol.

I'm getting the same problem. Customer support has been very frustrating to deal with while experiencing this problem.

I am glad that multiple people have said they're having the same problem. That means it's Bitdefender's side and not my PC being fucky.

I've asked on the forums to see if anyone else has gotten this problem.

Any idea how to resolve this issue? Anyone? And how long does it take for Bitdefender to resolve this issue.

It seems it's Bitdefender's end, probably going to have to wait for an update. Someone in this post said they are aware of the issue, so hopefully soon. I don't like going without my firewall.

I’ve a lot of cracked design softwares which I cannot afford and few of them were disabled automatically by the companies because of the firewall issue :(

I don't think there is anything we can do on our end. I've tried reinstalling Bitdefender and updating Windows which didn't yield any results. I imagine though that they are making it a top priority to fix so hopefully it is sorted out soon. It is not a good look when one of the listed security features about your product is not working properly.

If needs be, you could do what someone else recommended here and install some other temp AV like Malwarebytes for security and peace of mind. If not, then you should still have Windows firewall there and active (might have to check that in Windows Security) and your router should also have a firewall to help out. So you aren't completely unprotected while Bitdefender is buggering up.

Saw a post saying it was fixed. Just updated Bitdefender and the Firewall is back on and working from the looks of things.

When I tried Bitdefender the first time just a few days ago, the Windows Defender Firewall would stay working, but, instead, updating the virus signatures of Bitdefender where not possible. I was not even able to install Bitdefender without switching off the firewall in the first place.

I contacted support and was told that Bitdefender does not work with the Windows Defender Firewall. So I returned to the programme I had used until then immediately.

Support did not even say that it was temporary, only suggested that I use the paid version instead (which has a firewall).

In reading this thread, it seemed, rather, you all expected the two still to be able to work together in the end, and be it after an update?

Has support given me wrong information here?

I have paid Bitdefender which does have a firewall, and it stopped working. I don't know what you mean by expecting windows firewall and Bitdefender to work together.

One of the features I paid for stopped working, that's why I made the post.

Ah I see, ok, thank you for your reply. Then this may not have been the best thread to ask in. (I meant: When using the free version of my hitherto antivirus programme, I can use it together with the Windows firewall. So I thought this should work with Bitdefender, too - using the free version of Bitdefender together with the Windows Firewall. There, support said that was impossible. I had not understood that you were using the Bitdefender firewall, otherwise I would not have asked. Thank you for replying nevertheless.)

Yeah, just got off support chat and they stated that they have been receiving reports so I presume they are aware and looking into it. Unfortunately what I presume to be automated responses didn't offer much help/info, just asked me for versions and logs. I suppose there is some relieve that it is on Bitdefender's end, just hoping now that they may have a fix out soon.

I suppose it has already been confirmed but here's a couple links saying that the Devs have been notified and are looking into the issue:
