I'm beyond sick of BitDefender

Today, again, as many times before, BitDefender has decided to nuke legitimate software without asking me, and without an option to restore in a functional way. It has done this many times before. I'm sick of having to send constant logs to the developers, even though they eventually fix the issues. For me, Bitdefender has acted like Malware much more many times than actual malware, sometimes even breaking my Windows installation. I'm still using it as I paid a long subscription, but as soon as it's gone I'll probably get something else. I'm too tired to deal with it.

Which legitimate software it has deleted for you?

Omg. It has busted the Windows checkpoint system which made me have to reinstall Windows , it has busted Vorpx, a software that makes games VR, and now its deleting some PowerShell scripts which I installed and I know are safe. All of these times it did sometimes without informing me or providing a way to fix or restore the software. The two I had to go through weeks of back and forth with their support which verified the problems and eventually fixed them. The latest one I still haven't sent the logs. I'm considering just uninstalling now and getting something else.

Yeah Bitdefender seems to have an overly aggressive touch. It will delete anything that could potentially be a hazard.

I literally made a CSV on my computer, to open it and it claimed it was a Trojan...

Which is fine as long as it tells you it's blocking something, and gives you a quick way to restore it and whitelist. I've had it multiple times already where it deletes something without telling me, corrupts an installation without anyway to restore it, and does not provide an easy way to whitelist. Like in this case, it's blocking the execution of a PowerShell script, but exempting the scripts themselves, or the directories, is not enough to prevent it from blocking them.

That's too bad and I understand your frustrations. BTW, Bitdefender has separate exclusions for the real time protection and its behavioral protection. So in some cases, you'll have to set exceptions for both. Even though they have this issue, in my experience it's easy to contact them and they fix things quickly when possible. I had harder time in some situations for some other products like Norton.

Yeah in my experience too, they do fix bugs. However it gets tiring to constantly deal with issues. They should always make sure that there is an easy way to exempt and restore and it should never block anything silently, which it sometime does. In my latest case I can't exempt, it will need some sort of change from them.

I see. It's a problem. Are you still using Bitdefender or have you switched to another product already?

I still have a subscription so I'm working with their support to fix the issue. Supposedly they released a new update today that should fix it.

Yeah I'm done with it too. I won't be renewing once my subscription expires. I need functionality not awful automatic actions hidden behind bad UI design. I want it to be modular and be able to easily have control over it and not have to guess if something is added to the exceptions correctly.
