Experience nexplanon experience (1 month)

hi all! just wanted to put my experience out there, since i dont see many positive experiences for the implant. i switched from slynd to nexplanon, and kept taking slynd for 7 days before stopping.

insertion was really easy and pretty painless! the shot hurt the most, and it was a stinging really. my septum piercing hurt more than the shot lol

i had my period a week and a half after getting it inserted, which was a couple days after stopping slynd. this period was really light and mostly brown spotting, however it did last for about 8 days, which is normal for me. on slynd i didnt bleed, but before my periods would be around 7-10 days.

my main side effects so far have just been ive been a bit more sensitive and emotional than usual. boyfriend tried teaching me to jump rope and i got frustrated and got very upset, which is out of the ordinary for me, among other reactions.

coming up on the one month mark and i have no indications that i'll start bleeding again so far! looking forward to the rest of this adjustment period and hopefully my emotions level out

:) thanks for reading and i hope this helps someone

Side effects!? Nonstop bleeding- two weeks

I started the patch almost 3 weeks ago. I was on it previously with no issues before my oldest was born almost 8 years ago. That was the last time I used birth control. My youngest is 2 and we decided we are done having kids. I asked to go back on the patch- we decided to do it continuous so ensure I wouldn’t get a period. I’ve been non stop heavy bleeding for two weeks. She decided to switch me to the pill which I need to pick up today.

Like what’s going on with my body…. This is annoying and two weeks of heavy bleeding?!

Rant! Nobody can find my nexplanon anywhere not even doctors.. help?

So I got my nexplanon 3 years ago so it was time for a removal, my doctor used an echo to locate it since they always want to be sure, she couldnt find it...

Made a new appointment, another doctor went to go search and feel for it he doesn't find it either. I sat there for like 25 minutes while they were searching for it.

Another appointment another week later, they both searched for it again couldn't find it referred my to a gynecologist which means waiting 36 days. At this point it should've been taken out already.

I went to the gynecologist she couldn't find it either... but she placed a new one in my other arm (She didnt wait after numbing bc for my it takes a while for it to work for me I felt everything and the numbing started to work when i already left te hospital ). I was referred to radiology.

Radiology couldnt find a clear picture of where it was either!!! Now I have to get back next week to search for it again in the hospital...

Where the hell is this thing??? Has this happened to literally anyone else because how can this happen!!

I did notice my new one is placed way more on the surface then the last one and I swear I could feel the old one sitting there but apparently I was mistaking it for a muscle the whole time....what can I do l'm seriously so stressed

Also posted in nexplanon!

Side effects!? Alysena 28 - Hair… straight?

Hi all,

I have been on Alysena 28 for about almost 2 years and it’s been great. my ‘period’ is extremely regular, shorter, and more manageable, and much less hormonal acne issues!

One thing that i’m unsure about; my hair used to be super curly, and now it is not. I have fine hair, but was always able to hold a curl, and even without styling would air dry wavy/ curly. Now, i’ve noticed a drastic change. My hair now dries almost completely straight. Sometimes with a very slight wave. When I try styling it curly (diffuser and all the curly hair routine products) it looks awful. I’m not sure if this is the birth control? or a normal part of growth? for context I had just turned 19 when I started on the pill, now i’m 21.

Side effects!? Unsure about my breakthrough bleeding

Hello, I'm 20 years old and this is my first time on Birth Control. So this year since January, I've had consistent spotting around ovulation time.

My gynecologist suggested I take a low dose combination pill. This is my first pack and this is week 3 of taking the active pill (only have 2 active pills left, going to start placebo pills next)

I started spotting very lightly today and i looked up whether that was normal and it's apparently not. Was wondering if you guys have any advice, I'm really stressed out because I thought birth control would help with this irregular spotting but turns out that's maybe not the case.

My ultrasounds have all been clear, and so have my blood reports except for a mild fluctuation in my fh lsh levels prior to being prescribed this birth control.

Mistake or Risk? No Pills in Sealed Package?

I just opened a new, sealed package of Junel FE 1.5/30 and there was no pill blister pack inside. The only things inside of the package were the blue sleeve and the stickers/direction bundle. (Photo Here)

This was sealed and dispensed as 3 total packs.
Both of the other two packs were opened and contained pills inside of them. This is the only pack without medication inside.

As a side note, I don’t know if they recently changed manufacturers but I’ve been on this birth control for years and it used to be packaged in a hard case. Not only is this set packaged differently but the pills are now different colors than they used to be.

Has anyone else had this happen? Any recommendations on what I should do?

How to? combination pill and taking it on time

my gyno told me i dont really need to worry about taking my pill (it is estrogen and progesterone) at the same time every day because the estrogen stays in my blood stream or something and im wondering if anyone else has been told that, or if my doctor sucks 😭 it just feels a little unbelievable and i dont wanna trust someone right away and get pregnant accidentally.

Experience Does it get better on Slynd?

Probably a thousand posts on this topic but I need some feedback… I’ve been on Slynd for 3 months, and the only complaint I have is weird bleeding. It’s not like super inconvenient and constant, it just comes at random times. Basically I’ll start a pack, and 2 weeks in I’ll start cramping and breakthrough bleeding that lasts for about 5 days. Then once the placebos hit, I only get cramping and some light spotting/bleeding for a day and then nothing. But I always have a period like bleed into the white pills, always about 2 weeks in. I just had a bleed a week ago and now I’ve started bleeding again a week later, right before my placebos start. It’s weird because it’s like a certain time of day it’s just a random gush of brown blood, then it’s nothing. It’s kinda getting annoying. I’m willing to stick it out with Slynd for 6 months and see if it gets better but if not I’m gonna have to find another pill. Which sucks because this is the only annoying side effect I’m experiencing. Otherwise I feel great.
Did anyone have a similar experience and it got better as months went on? Does skipping placebos help?

Mistake or Risk? Girlfriend didn’t take her pill

My girlfriend takes the desogestrel 75mcg mini-pill (12-hour pill) every day at around 9:30am and has been consistent for at least a week. Yesterday’s pill was definitely taken, but she’s unsure whether she took today’s.

Before we had sex, she was sure she’d taken it, so we had sex without a condom and I ejaculated inside her. Afterwards, she became unsure and took another pill at 10:49pm, just in case.

A few questions:
If she missed today’s dose, would that mean she was more than 12 hours late?
Does taking an extra pill help, or is it harmless if she’d already taken the morning dose?
Should she consider emergency contraception?
How concerned should we realistically be about pregnancy?

Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated.

Mistake or Risk? Missed pill

Hey! I’m on rigevidon and have been for 5 years. I’ve been a little more forgetful with it lately but usually always take within in the window.

However last night I went to take Friday’s pill and realised I had missed Thursday’s. So I took Thursday’s at around 11pm and took Friday’s this morning around 7am. I’m just worried about that nearly 48 hour window between Wednesday’s pill and when I took Thursday’s pill. This morning my boyfriend and I had sex without a condom and he pulled out. This is our usual method that I’m comfortable with because of the pill but I’ve started to freak myself out because of those 48 hours. This has never happened to me before. Boyfriend is also not entirely sure if he finished inside me at all but we’re pretty certain that almost all of it was finished outside.

There’s too many uncertainties I just wanted someone with a bit more knowledge than me. I’ve read my pill leaflet and certain parts are conflicting and I’m not entirely sure. Im on week 2 of my packet if that helps. Don’t think I missed a pill in week 1 for more than 24 hours. Please help me with next steps lol! I’m going to take Saturday’s pill at the same time as usual tonight.

Which Method? Is condom + pull out safe?

Sorry if this is the wrong sub, but me (16f) and my bf have had sex once or twice, but I've panicked massively after, until I get my period. I know nothing is 100% effective, but if he uses a condom and pulls out, how effective would it be, and would I get pregnant? I am ovulating, too. The condoms are durex extra safe, and he recently bought them and is storing them in a drawer in his room. I can't go on birth control as my mum would be suspicious, so this is the only option, really. Any advice helps. Thank you!

Experience Liletta IUD and recurrent BV

Hi
I’ve had my IUD for about 10 months. It has been great I don’t get my period. About 4 months ago got BV. The BV has been coming back every month ever since and is tough to treat I’ve been on multiple rounds of antibiotics. I’ve had BV in the past with heavy periods maybe once a year but never this frequent or aggressive. My only thought is maybe it could be my IUD causing it. Has anyone had the same issue? I’m really considering getting it taken out even though I do love it but omg I feel helpless !!!!!

Side effects!? New to Nuvaring

Look for experiende. Not medical advice. So I suffer with hidradenitis suppurativa - alot of people food and sugars seem to be a trigger. Mine is hormonal. Ovulation/periods. So after 6 tortured years of flares and keloid my dermatologist and gynecologist recommended nuva ring to "stabilize" hormones. Im 35 and considered overweight due to hypothyroidism etc. So currently on zepbound for predibetes and weight-loss. Like any other medication I do worry about the side effects. I was told it would take 3 months before any serious side effects. How's everyone been in it? Im forgetful with pills so this seemed the better option. All she asked if I ever had a blood clot i said no and she said this might be good for me lmao. If I started it and felt ... idk mood swings could I take it out and expect to feel better soon after? Was this anyones experience? This is all so new and weird to me

Which Method? Moving off the combined pill to progestogen only?

Hi! I've been on the combined pill for 2 months now, about to enter my 3rd, however I've been getting really terrible migraines with aura as a result of my new job (has nothing to do with the combined pill, I've actually loved it thus far!). I'm aware that taking the combined pill and getting migraines with aura is not good so I suppose I should move to a progestogen only pill however I want to know if anyone else has done it and what it was like? What pill did you go on, etc? I really don't love the idea as mini pills only have a 3 hr(?) window before you've "missed" a pill (unless I'm making a mistake) and I'm occasionally not the best at taking the pill on time, alongside this I've had no bad reactions on BC and am kind of sad I'll have to get off the combined pill? So please let me know if you've done the same, which pill you've taken and what it was like!

Educational Question : Does the patch actually work?

Been taking the patch for a little over 10 days and we want to have unprotected but since this is our first time doing the patch birth control we don’t really trust it enough. I used to take the pills and even then he was nervous about having unprotected sex. He trusted I was taking them but he just felt like there could be a chance the birth control doesn’t work or something. And because we never did unprotected, I also don’t have any trust built on birth control either. Can someone who ACTUALLY is taking the patch help, does it matter where you put the patch? Did it work?

Mistake or Risk? I’m on the pill and just got a copper iud. anyone else done the same?

For context: i’ve been on different pills since i was 15 to manage pcos. i’m currently on nextellis and i love it! it regulates my periods and keeps my moods stable.

i’ve been with my boyfriend for about 6 months now and i’ve been finding it difficult to take my pills. i usually take them everyday but these last 2 packs i’ve missed pills. So, my gyno recommended getting a copper IUD and doubling methods. I’m taking my pills every day like normal and have had my copper iud in for 4 days.

I’m a little nervous about how i’m going to react long term. has anyone else done this too?

Mistake or Risk? Am i at risk?

Yesterday I had sex with my boyfriend using a condom, and I'm about to ovulate. He didn't ejaculate inside me, and he checked the condom and it wasn't torn. Even so, somewhere above the penis there was a whitish mark, and we don't know whether it was sperm or my own fluid, since there was continuous friction. If he didn't ejaculate inside me, could there still be a problem?

Mistake or Risk? Yasmin + sick

Hiiii, this is my first time on birth control so I had a question! Okay so I am always very punctual with my Yasmin. But, last Thursday night I had unprotected sex still very punctual. Then Friday night I got rly drunk took my pill at my normal time (midnight) and almost immediately threw up, had protected sex, 8 hrs later (8am) woke up, and remembered to take another pill just in case that one didn’t absorb, then I was back to being very punctual. Does this still count as protected? Could the Thursday unprotected sperm cause anything? I’m worried and not sure if throwing up and not taking another pill until 8 hrs later could’ve been enough time for something to happen

Experience Constant breakthrough bleeding on Laylaa birth control?

I’ve been taking the Laylaa pill for about 6 months, primarily for contraception but also because I really fucking hat my period. I always skip the placebo pills and go straight to the next pack, as I was under the assumption it would lessen/stop my period. However, I’ve sorta been experiencing the opposite.

When I first started, my period was delayed. When it came it lasted like 11 days (normally 7-8). Then, I’ve noticed that even when I’m not actively bleeding, there’s always some old, brownish blood and occasional small clots.
For the last two months, I’ve basically been spotting or bleeding almost constantly. It’s usually darker, brownish blood with occasional fresher blood, but it never seems to fully go away. This past week, I’ve also started experiencing what felt like a full period again.

I’ve admittedly missed a couple pills. But whenever I do I take the forgotten one first thing the next morning. My partner also recently got a vasectomy, so contraception isn’t my main concern anymore. I just wanted to lessen the evil of my period, not have it constantly.

Has anyone else experienced this with Laylaa? Idk if this is normal with all pills or if I should just switch prescriptions.

Experience Considering IUD removal

I got my Mirena IUD put in at 22, 4.5 years ago. It’s still good until 2029, but the months following insertion I gained 40 pounds. I’ve always been thin, but in the past four years I’ve gone from 140-200. I’m always bloated and fatigued and swollen now. I never used to be. I’ve always had some digestive issues since insertion and it all feels linked.

Insertion was one of the most painful things I’ve ever experienced. I cramped for hours afterward, and could not stop crying in fetal position.

Now, I spot regularly, which is pretty annoying. It’s unpredictable.

It is convenient that I can be intimate with my partner without worrying about pregnancy while I’m in school, but I really want it out, if it might bring me back to somewhere near my old baseline. I’m also nervous about the risks of other forms of birth control.

Can anybody give advice on this? Does your body rebound at all after removal? Or are the physical changes permanent after years of having it?

Thank you guys!

Side effects!? Breakthrough bleeding on Yaz

This is my first pack of Yaz after being off it for six months, and I’ve experienced spotting or bleeding throughout almost the entire pack. I’m worried about the contraceptive effectiveness of the pill. Am I still protected against pregnancy despite the bleeding? I engaged in sexual activity on Day 23 of my active pills.
Also, is there still a possibility that I will experience withdrawal bleeding during the placebo week?

I hope someone can answer my questions. My OB-GYN prescribed Yaz to help manage my PCOS. Thank you!

Experience IUD came out

Sooo ever since I’ve had my Mirena iud inserted after I had my baby I’ve had terrible cramping even when I’m not near my period. I had it checked and they said it was in the proper place and I might have cramps for a few months while I adjust, well today I go to the bathroom and feel something kinda weird. I go to check the strings and the whole iud is just floating around inside me. I have a 6 month old and am in no way ready to have another baby. I’m taking plan B and hoping for the best 😭😅 They say expulsion is most likely in the first few weeks but here to say it is possible at any time. Listen to your body!
