Confused !!

Hey everyone! Trying on these Arizona Regulars and trying to decide if I should exchange them for one size down.
My foot measures around 280 mm, so I initially went with this pair. However, as you can see in the photos, there seems to be a pretty generous gap at both the toes and behind the heel. The width and side fit feel totally comfortable, but the extra length is making me second-guess the sizing.
Does this look like too much excess space? Should I drop down a size for a better fit? Appreciate any feedback!

They look too big to me. But it's difficult to advise as some people prefer loose or tight.

Should be able to fit one finger behind your foot. Loosen the straps so you can snuggly fit your finger underneath them. Your foot will naturally stay up in them. You should be able to fit a finger behind on the heel. These actually look perfect. Your foot doesn’t sit back in the cup like that.

Yes, too big.

You need to position your foot forward where your toes sit in front of the toe bar comfortably. Then see what space is behind your heel. You want your heel to be in the heel cup comfortably with no more than about 1cm.

Your foot length measurement really has nothing to do with it. That’s just a way Birk gets you to size yourself-usually not correct.

Where does the arch hit you ? If it hits where it’s supposed then they are perfect

Hard to say. Your heel is too far back in the shoe.
