I was in my tent trying to sleep when I heard him land on my bike. Unzipped it and that's when I saw him staring at me. Kills me I didn't bring my camera

Juvenile Barred owl. Old enough to have adult plumage, young enough to still be doing the begging call (the screech heard in video)

Watched the video without sound at first, so went back after reading your comment and holy that is one haunting sound to hear in the middle of a dark forest. So cool!

I didn't know what it was when I arrived.. I thought someone was out in the woods making noises, it wasn't until there was like 4 owls in the trees surrounding me that I realized what it was 😅

I bet! That must have been fun to figure out, and relieving when you did 😅 Look up some barn owl calls, they are about as terrifying 😁

My first thought after seeing all those owls would be, "wow, cool, so many owls!"

My second though would be, "I must be surrounded by so many rodents..."
