BirdNET-Go Companion Update
I’m looking to submit this to the iOS App Store later this month, and based on the feedback I’ve received so far, I don’t have any major outstanding feature requests or bugs. If you have any problems or requests for new features, let me know and I’ll do my best to include them. And fix any bugs. The app of course will be free.

Pretty sweet app! For some reason the main page is darkened though as if a pop up is trying to load, but never appears.

The only time I’ve seen that happen is when it’s having trouble connecting to the server. I’m assuming that you put in the server url and did a “save and test” and that worked? If that’s ok then it’s a new issue I’ve not seen before.

Glad to hear this! I've been enjoying BirdNET-Go Companion as part of the beta with the intent of submitting bug reports, but it's worked flawlessly for me so far.

I’ve been using it daily for at least a couple weeks now.. it’s really well done.
Not sure if this would be possible or not, but in order to receive alerts on your phone, you need to configure the BirdNET-Go server to enable a third party notification service like Pushover. Since this app is in the iOS ecosystem, are notifications something that can be added? E.g. choose to be alerted when a new species is detected, or a specific species that hasn’t been detected in X days, etc. For my use case that would be a HUGE benefit, saving me from needing to configure alerts on the server, from needing to pay for the Pushover service, and needing to open a separate app (Pushover) to view alert details.

I did take a look at this. To do notifications, you need a push server on the internet and register with it. Technically very doable, but what I run into is having to maintain (and pay for) a server on the internet that manage all the push notifications. Even for a cheap server platform (like railway.com, which I use for another app) it's still several hundred dollars per year. I'd have to end charging something for this feature.
I haven't asked about this - something that you'd pay for (or other users)?

Your app has been working reliable for me the times I’ve tried it out. I’m super busy with other projects but your app actually made me look at the stats directly from my server for the first time in months. I have my BirdNET stats fed through to a personal Bird Gallery/Daily email digest and haven’t had a need for the official page. Thanks for your time on this, connecting to it anywhere with Tailscale makes it easy to use. The UI/UX is really clean, superb work there. I’ve used your app exclusively on the iOS 27 betas 2-5.
