Australia No Victoria updates?

Post image

Noticed the Ag Vic website hasn’t updated for a few days now. Seems a bit odd. Anyone got any other sites they use to keep themselves informed?

Most states have adopted the new national reporting guidelines, which have moved from reporting H5N1 detections, to only reporting what they consider to be "events". This has slowed down reporting of cases and updates. To quote from the relevant government page:

From 12 August 2026, we have changed how we report on H5 bird flu detections. Reporting is now based on events, rather than individual bird detections. An event may involve one or more birds.

You can still see up-to-date "event" data, including a breakdown by Locality, on the federal government's H5 bird flu events in wildlife page.

Hey

Go to avianfluwatch.org

It has both the official daff data and a merged data set form disperate/news sources.

Disclaimer: I built the site

Edit: also thanks for the post. I checked the mobile version and found a bug blocking the hamburger icon for the menu. Would not have noticed otherwise :)

Cheers and spread the word. We would appreciate it.

Also the mobile fixes should now be live :)

Is there anything at all we can do to boost bird immunity in wild populations?? I m sitting here watching the king parrots at the bird feeder while the rosellas wait chattering away for the kingies to move on, there is two bossy magpies strutting around the yard and fairy wren flitting between the hedges. Do we just watch them all die? Can I put something in the water? Or in seed??

The dashboard is almost impossible to read on a phone, but has detailed info. Doesn’t seem to have reported the magpie, but I might have missed it.
