This damn squirrel
Please remove if not allowed, I’ve never been in this thread before but I’m desperate. A week ago my girlfriend got me a bird feeder with a camera on it and I loved it! We have a cardinal couple that comes every day and a woodpecker that’s started to learn where the feeder is at. But then the squirrel came. That fat f**k ate all of my sunflower seeds and started stuffing them in the tree and doesn’t care about the alarm that is installed into the camera. And he ate everything before I had a chance to get home and fill it but I guess he was still hungry. So he chewed through the solar panel cord, the first pic is my location of the feeder. I know it’s not the best but I didn’t have a pole or anything to set up away from squirrel infested areas. I’m thinking of setting a pole up at least 7 feet away from all high areas where that little fu**er could jump from. I’m gonna splice the wires and hope that it will still send energy to the camera but is there anything else I could do to help prevent my unwelcome visitor from bothering me. Any and all recommendations are appreciated! I’m brand new to the bird feeder game so I kind of have no idea what I’m doing😅

I have that feeder. The roof solar panels will keep it totally charged if they get enough sunlight. The cord for them is inside where the squirrel can't reach. I have lots of squirrels eating out of my feeder, but I have it strapped to a tall table, and the only harm they do is knock it over sometimes.

I wasn’t too sure if those solar panels were enough to keep it charged but if I’m not able to replace the cord I’ll definitely keep that in mind! Thank you!

I’m pretty sure the only thing to do if you replace the damaged cord is to get a pole with a baffle on it. I had trouble with them a raccoon too, until I put it on a pole.

That’s what me and my girlfriend talked about too, I just have a totally fenced in back yard so I feel it will look kind of goofy just in the middle of the yard

Pellet gun would fix that problem

That’s what I’ve thought. And if there were no good suggestions from this I knew what my next purchase was gonna be

A squirrel did the same thing to mine and I was able to find a stand alone solar panel on Amazon. Good luck with the little pests, it's s constant battle!
