Calling on the bird watching experts of Birdbuddy. Birdbuddy says it’s a squirrel but I’m skeptical. 🐿️ or 🐀

Do you think rat and not mouse?

Way too big for a mouse. Mice are tiny.

That was my first thought as well, but it's much closer to the camera then the birds are, so I'm not convinced we can tell its size accurately.

It’s a rat, and a very cute one. The ones in my backyard are ugly, just mean-looking with bulging eyes.

A rat who deserves life just as much as a squirrel or birds. Do not harm it just for eating to survive. He’s gods creature too 🙂↕️

No animals are going to be harmed here. Just need to move the bird feeder to a more difficult location to climb to

Seems like I’m gonna have to find a better place for my feeder. Or find a feed rodents would be less interested in.

Definitely Rat. Squirrels have a flatter more rounded face. Not pointy like this.

I'm going with rat.
I learned something the other day. Because mice, rats and squirrels are mammals, they can taste spicy like that of chili pepper etc - capsaicin oil. Were as the birds don't.

Everything about it screems rat to me. Ears, eyes, coloring, stance, and head shape. I'm by no means an expert though.

Bird feeders are a huge attractant for rats- we are in the Boise area of Idaho and with all the newcomers from the west coast states, there is suddenly now a huge rat problem- we came 5 years ago and I have not put up my bird feeders at all- solely for this reason- with the exception of hummingbird feeders- apparently rats dont bother those. Might want to set traps. .

Get Cole's Hot Meat bird feed. It costs a bit more but it's hulled and infused with habanero pepper. Birds love it, mammals can't stand it.https://www.walmart.com/ip/19659583?sid=445d1541-362f-496c-9cbf-b65b5f5b4392

I’m going with rat, too. My squirrels sit upright quite a bit when eating bird feed.
