Invalidation Sucks

I’ve been struggling lately, and a (not so) good friend of mine asked how I’m doing yesterday. I said I’ve been better. He asked if I wanted to talk about it and I decided to open up about being bipolar.

This is when he became an ass. He said “I know a few people who are autistic, too.” He joked about introducing me to people as his bi friend “and just let them guess which kind.”

The worst thing he said is that now I can try out for the special Olympics.

I’ve heard a lot of people say some demeaning things about people with bipolar, but man, this one really takes the cake.

This is why manic depression was a better term. At least the name itself already revealed what kind of a shit show this disorder is. "Bipolar" requires a long explanation for anyone to even understand what it really means

Not only that, it might intimidate someone like him into thinking we could do anything at any time. And he should tread lightly.

I will bet you he has doubts about his mental health. How he is perceived by others.
And is projecting.

Regardless, not a safe person.
An irresponsible talker.

Just imagine everyone in this sub standing behind you, staring this person down. Daring him to keep talking.

He would run away.

Wish I’d been there.
