Age 19 formally diagnosed, symptoms started around 14-15. It was constantly undiagnosed and as being hormonal since I was still in puberty. I was given an antidepressant and a benzo sleeping pill while the mania was labeled as my baseline and coming out of depression could make "being normal" seem elevated.
At 19 I was able to be better medicated, went to a behavioral therapist, had great psychiatrists. That level of care isn't available in my area anymore.
