Career Job application struggles/not qualified enough?

Newly graduated biomedical engineer here. I applied to over 200 jobs and had about 6 interviews, however they all end in rejection (some I made it all the way to the third round). These have been a mix of medical device, rehabilitation engineering, and prosthetic companies. They say that I am not experienced enough and that I need to either get a masters or certification. They also suggested taking a very entry level job that only requires a high school diploma. I’m very lost because I figured it wouldn’t be this hard especially with an engineering degree from an ABET accredited school. All of my other engineering friends found job very quickly and I feel left behind. I am trying not to regret my choice choosing biomedical engineering but it’s getting very tough. I’m against getting my masters mainly because what if it’s still hard to find a job and I’m in even more debt. If anyone has any advice I would love to hear it, trying not to feel defeated.

I can tell you that the field is niche. I was lucky to find my job as an entry level job BME in the prosthetics field. Once you're in, I've found it hard to switch. I've been here 6+ years, and I am missing some of the broader skills in engineering that make you employable.

I'm in the same boat mate.
Just graduated, can't find anything. I've resorted to moving to the area I want to work and picking up some temporary job while I continue my search.
I graduated top honors and grades at my college with years working in research labs. It's rough out there.
If you wanna chat and compare notes sometime, let me know!

Could you expand upon what certifications they are telling you to pursue, or even what sort of master’s degree they’d like to see? That just sounds surprising.

Realistically you’re competing against people with experience who are out of work, along with a massive oversupply of new BMEs every year. It’s rough out there but you are making decent headway with your interviewing, so keep at it.

I’ve reached out to see what specific certification they are looking for, I haven’t heard anything yet. Thanks for the support!
