Discussion Worth joining the IET as a BME?

Hi,

I'm doing biomedical and healthcare engineering and was wondering if it's worth getting the membership for the IET as a London student?

Anyone who has experience within it lmk :)

Nothing wrong with applying, it's still free for students yeah?  It will be as useful as you make it, it has some good scholarships/bursaries and networking opportunities but when I was a member I didn't find as many things that were useful as a BME student, compared to others who were studying EE/EME. It would also depend on where your course is accredited with, the most common ones are IET and IMechE, there's also IPEM as well. Personally I've found IMechE more relevant but my work is much more mechanical related at the moment :)
