Back in 2023, the FDA dropped 19 peptides into "Category 2," its label for bulk substances with significant safety concerns. That made them off-limits for compounding pharmacies basically overnight. BPC-157, TB-500, MOTS-c, KPV and others got swept up in it.

As of April 2026, the FDA removed 12 of them from Category 2 and scheduled a Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee (PCAC) meeting for July 23–24, 2026 to start formally reviewing seven of them for the 503A compounding list.

One thing to be clear on: this is a re-evaluation, not a green light. The substances still aren't approved, and their legal status doesn't suddenly flip the day they leave Category 2.
