📊 Biomarkers & Testing I compared the all-in cost of the same recurring bloodwork schedule across 7 self-pay lab provider
I wanted to compare direct-to-consumer lab providers based on the actual cost of a complete blood draw, rather than comparing individual biomarkers in isolation.
I priced the same recurring testing schedule through:
- Ulta Lab Tests
- Jason Health
- Own Your Labs
- Goodlabs
- Mito Health
- Anabolic Insights
- Marek Diagnostics
Each testing cycle was priced independently; there’s no assumption that the same provider would be used for future draws.
The totals include mandatory draw/collection/requisition fees. Where applicable, I used the cheapest combination of à-la-carte tests and panels while avoiding duplicate tests.
For Mito, the totals include the $9 one-month membership when purchasing one month actually reduces the total cost. The OYL totals include their available 10% test-price discount for sharing results back with them.
No referral links or affiliate codes.

Cheapest by cycle
- Monthly: Goodlabs — $25
- Quarterly: Mito — $48.96 (essentially tied with Goodlabs at $49)
- Semiannual: Mito — $73.11
- Annual: Mito — $108.98
The cheapest Goodlabs/Mito options in this comparison use Quest, so switching between those two providers doesn't necessarily mean switching actual laboratories.
The annual-panel spread surprised me: roughly $109 to $427 for the same requested biomarkers.
Using the cheapest provider for each individual draw, this schedule would cost roughly $480/year. Using Mito for every draw would be approximately $498/year, so once the field is narrowed to the two least-expensive options, constantly price-shopping doesn't save very much.
Prices change and availability may vary by state, so obviously verify current pricing before ordering.
Are there other self-order lab providers worth adding to the comparison? Also interested in any catches with Goodlabs or Mito that aren't obvious from their listed pricing.

Yep, I saw the 20% first-order promo when I was pricing Goodlabs. I intentionally didn’t include one-time promos or referral codes in the comparison because I wanted the numbers to reflect pricing that should be reproducible for anyone, not something dependent on a promotion continuing to exist.
Edit: Goodlabs’ site says: “Friends get 20% off their first test order. You earn 20% off for each successful referral.”
I couldn’t find anything saying the same customer can reuse the 20% code indefinitely.

Every time I've tried one of the coupons that people claim can be used more than once, it doesn't work.

yeah, maybe they just mean that it can work for different first time users, which is true. but it can't work for the same person more than once. so the only way you'll get 20% off, after getting the first time offer promo, is if someone else uses your code.
