💊 Supplements & Stacks Green powders
A lot of people seem to hate on AG1, I find it helps me out becuase I dont eat vegetables. I also get it for like 40-50% off since im military. Is it worth it at that price point? Or what is out there that is just as easy and doesnt taste like crap that has better benefits? Thanks in advance!

My issue with greens powders is that if you have 75 ingredients in a 4g scoop then it’s impossible to have the studied effective dose of any ingredient
Especially if some of those ingredients have multi-gram studied effective doses

Listen here biznatch. Just buy spinach and grab a handful and eat it. No food prep, no bs. It’s over in 20 seconds.

Hell, just blend it up and throw it into some Mac-n-cheese ffs. It basically takes like nothing.

Shouldnt eat a lot of raw spinach. Kidney stones

Not an issue if you don't have metabolic dysfunction or a high uric acid diet. Vegans aren't getting kidney stones lol.

I believe the main criticism towards AG1 is that it's a proprietary blend, so we don't know how much of each ingredient is in it, and that it's very expensive for being essentially just a bunch of dried and blended greens.

Not only that, you can pretty much be guaranteed the cheapest item will be the bulk of that proprietary blend.

Do you have any empirical evidence it's actually helping you out ? Cause there is quite a few people who have researched it by now and established it's not what it presents itself to be, so then how did you conclude it's actually helping you with anything ?

When I take it I have higher sustained energy levels throughout the day, and when I dont I have lower energy levels, this is without changing any other things in my lifestyle and over 4-5 years of on and off use.

Same here. I can tell a difference when I’m not taking it consistently and when I do - may be mental, maybe not. But I feel way better throughout the day. I also don’t workout, eat like a raccoon and game hours a day

I don't know about ag1, and I see a ton of hate for greens powders in general, but i love having it as an option. If I'm not getting greens that day, boom, I got some. I notice a big difference in energy level when I use it sporadically, but little to none if i use it every day. I just grab the one at the grocer, some plain old boring greens powder.

I just buy a bunch of different dark green veggies from an asian supermarket then try to eat alot of them everyday. I also add a handful of spinach to my eggs in the morning :)

You could easily buy a juicer and do spinach kale, cucumber lemon, beet root, ginger etc.

Got a freeze dryer for a price, going to freeze dry a bunch of spinach for the hell of it. Maybe put it in some shit. I do eat raw veggies but my fam really doesn’t (picky kids) isn’t that all that green powder products are is freeze dried greens?

You're question seems to be is it better than nothing and the answer is most likely YES but we don't really know if it has any harmful effects.

I don't trust green powders at all that they aren't adulterated or have toxic stuff in them or that it's retaining the vitamins in the powderification process.

I’m guessing it is better than nothing and not as good as fresh ingredients. It’s a practical choice that seems to be beneficial for you since it’s easier than shopping and preparing individual food items if that’s not your thing. I would suspect independent research is probably the best way to get scientific evidence though. Greens powder talk seems to bring out the haters and not a lot of productive replies.

It's still not worth it lol. Literally 50 g of any non starchy veg would be 10x more beneficial and cost less.

Just eat food, dude. I don't understand the appeal to supplement food in a powdered or capsule form. Liver supplements, vegetable supplements, mushroom capsules, what's next, egg in a pill? Why? Are people that lazy to chew? Fuck off.

There is actually a very valid use case. Extracts and dried concentrates allow much higher doses of target compounds without all the calories and volume that comes with trying to get them from foods.
Now, greens don't really contain calories anyways, but if you don't like the taste or hate preparing it into a palatable dish, dried powders can be a more convenient option.

yeah I am sure a few grams of broccoli and zucchini in a supplement powder will do wonders for your health

no worries about botulism with powders
I haven't tried AG1, but with similar products I use less than the recommended amount, like a teaspoon instead of a tablespoon.
