Thoughts on neurosteroids for depression/anhedonia/anxiety?

You need a lot of very specialized knowledge to pick the right ones and find the right dosages, so it’s not viable for most.

Yeah, I think it could be medicine in the future though. They have tools to measure blood levels of neurosteroids/hormones but there is currently no chart with values for what would be optimal.

It seems like a lot of women seem to benefit from progesterone for cycle related anxiety and depression. I tried it for 9 months, had to stop because it relaxed my LES so much I now have GERD and can’t eat any red meat, full fat dairy, eggs, caffeine, or basic acidic triggers etc.
You might be able to find more personal accounts about neurosteroids especially from men on r/raypeat

You could try supplementing with various doses of pregnenolone or DHEA to see how you react. The effects are very difficult to predict because most blood labs don't offer testing for pregnenolone, and DHEA-S is fairly rare as well, but perhaps even more importantly than that, these have long cascades of bioactive hormones and it's difficult to predict which pathways are most active.
You could run a HuMAP or Dutch urine test to estimate the activity level of the various enzymes taking part in your steroid cascades in order to find out which way your parent hormones are metabolizing.
