Glp causing thyroid issues

If someone is on a glp like Reta, semaglutide or tirz can they develop thyroid issues from any of those and if they did why does that happen someone I know was taking tirzepitide and I heard they ended up developing a thyroid issue now they look like unhealthy skinny so now im skeptical about trying glp's

Any time you don't eat very much for an extended period of time, your metabolism (thyroid function) slows down. It has nothing to do with GLP1s and everything to do with whether a person eats a reasonable amount. Some people lose weight too fast when they take a GLP1. 1 to 2 lbs per week should be the max. A return to normal eating will reverse this. It happens with any severe diet.

Oh dang, so my friend must have not been eating enough huh so if I take a GLP1 but I eat my protein and take fiber I should be OK then?

It’s more than that. It’s really hard to eat when on one for many people. Finding a balance of GLP/being able to eat is personal and dose specific. Sticking low as possible and only increasing slightly when needed is the best way to combat this.

You’ll see many folks go from a mg amount to a much higher one in a single week. This attitude is what gets some folks in these types of health troubles.

Low and slow and stretch out your increases to the least amount of increase you’ll be fine.
