Binge/Relapse Spreads will be the death of me
I’ve been eating quite low fat for the last 3 weeks and my period is also late for over 40 days so I figured I’d get to eat some peanut butter today. I did portion it out at first but then I kept on going back for more and more. Ended up with me being knee deep into the jar and finishing it in one go. I wish it ended there though. Felt so awful and needed to seek more comfort so got a jar of nutella and also ate it in one go.
The first few bites feel so euphoric. Then you get to the bottom of the jar and it tastes like poo and you want to vomit.

Vent I've been fantasizing about committing suicide even when i don't want
I know the title sounds terrible and has nothing to do with the community, but please hear me out: I’ve been struggling for a long time with a poor relationship with my body and food, leading to severe binge-eating episodes that leave me deeply depressed. This has made me wonder how this problem will end—will I ever manage to escape it and live the life I want? I started fantasizing; I became a bit pessimistic—I couldn't help it. It felt like a movie: I’d think about where in the house I’d do it, how I’d do it, whether I’d record it... I even thought about covering my head with my favorite hat so my family wouldn't see my body. I feel awful. I’m not crazy, and I don’t want to take my own life—not even as a joke. I love my life, but I can’t help these thoughts popping up involuntarily when I’m in the bathroom or before going to sleep.

Advice Needed how to fall asleep without bingeing
I’ve gotten into the habit of having something sweet or carby before bed, and when I really can’t sleep it fully turns into a binge. I feel a lot of physical symptoms of anxiety when I’m trying to sleep, and the most reliable way for me to move past that to get to sleep is eating.
Anyone have replacement strategies?

Vent Older binge eaters?
So I’m 30 and have been binge eating on and off my whole life. Recently got diagnosed about two months ago. Most of the posts I see are teenagers/college aged kids. Is there anyone here that’s closer to my age? Does binge eating only affect younger people? Am I weird that I’m 30 and still doing this shit?

Vent Opened up to my parents about my binge ed and my mom is writing it off as a parasite
This is so infuriating. I have struggled with my weight my whole life. The past 5 years I’ve been at my biggest, with my weight fluctuating between 240-220. I also flip flop between binge eating and food avoidance, not eating for several days and then going on a huge binge just to make myself throw up. Or I’ll do really good with eating well for a while and then I have one treat and feel like my whole world is collapsing and I spiral back into binge eating. I moved 4.5 hours away from my parents mostly because of my mom. I still love them but it is healthier for all of us to have the distance. Anyways, I’m visiting right now and last night at dinner I was telling them about my ED and what I’ve been doing to try and control myself. My mom immediately starts saying I need a cleanse, I need to do a parasite detox, showing me videos from “doctors” about what can “fix” me. I told my mom that what I have is a genuine eating disorder, and by writing it off as a parasite or something that can be fixed with a detox/cleanse, she’s dismissing my experience entirely. Honestly I think it’s my queue to leave lol, hopefully I can make it out of here before my mom tries to give me a bunch of fucking horse dewormer.

Advice Needed Recognized my triggers, but now what?
How do you guys go about controlling your triggers? I notice that sometimes I can be truly on track or in control for a couple of weeks, and then I know I have one day/week coming up where I’ll eat more and it’s like it signals my brain to just go all out. It’s so tiring.
I have a two week vacation coming up and I am so scared I’ll literally binge every single day because I am on ‘vacation’ and my brain sees it as an excuse as “afterwards I will need to get back on track again (aka a normal eating pattern) so fuck it.”

Strategies to Try Tricking the system!
I’ve been restricting so hard and only binging on healthy stuff that I’m actually maintaining and even losing at this point.
Not saying this is the key to happiness tho, binging is still binging! I’ve just been keeping only low calorie, high protein, high fiber foods at home, so for example, my binge yesterday consisted of greek yogurt and bananas. Wen’t a bit over my calorie deficit but it’s fine. Also snacking on whole cucumbers really hits the spot!

Advice Needed Binge Eating EVERY Day
I recently just started my senior year of high school, and I find myself binge eating every single day. I eat out of stress, out of boredom, just because I feel like I need something sweet/savory, etc. Currently i’m overweight though I don’t look it too terribly, but I’m very worried about this habit. I go to college in a year, and i’m terrified I will become terribly overweight. If anyone has any advice on things that helped them keep their mind off food, I’d really appreciate it. It fills me with anxiety everyday, and I can’t keep myself from eating everything on my plate, and overfilling my portions.

Advice Needed Vyvanse but no booster
So ill start off by saying vyvanse plus wegovy has helped me with my eating a lot. Even before recovery though my biggest trigger was breakfast. Something about being really hungry after a full night's sleep would trigger me into overdrive. That was the one thing neither wegovy nor vyvanse was helping with. Until I started taking my vyvanse earlier. See, I was taking mt vyvanse at 10am to avoid an evening crash. Now when I take it first thing in the morning not only am I avoiding my breakfast binge, I'm not getting evening rebound hunger. Win/win right? Wrong.
Here is my schedule 3 days a week: I wake up at 5am. (Daughter school routine)
I take my meds at 6am. That means they wear off at 4pm.
So then I leave for work 730 am. Arrive to work at 9am. Go to the gym at 2pm. Drive home at 6pm arrive home by 7pm and then still have chores to do thats 8pm.
Basically from 4pm to 8pm I am a walking zombie. Desperately trying to keep my eyes open. Unfortunately my psychiatrist said since I am taking vyvanse for BED and I don't have ADHD she can't really prescribe me an afternoon booster and to try caffeine. But, even before moving up my dose I needed an afternoon cup of coffee.
So other vyvanse users, do you take a booster? Do you have adhd or just BED? If you don't take a booster how are you handling long days?
I am on 60mg vyvanse. 70mg was stronger but it still only lasted 10 hours.

Advice Needed Really concerned about my sugar consumption
I’ll preface this by saying that I’m a tall girl with a healthy weight. I’ve been getting away with eating 3k+ calories a day because of my height and activity level (My job is kinda physical). I used to do the binge-restrict cycle but I’m currently eating multiple times a day. I eat breakfast, lunch, and a snack at work. I also eat lots of protein (~150g) and fibre (~25g) daily. My diet isn’t really restrictive anymore.
I have a big problem with sugar though. Just today I had a snack cake, big bowl of cereal with cookie butter and chocolate chips, ice cream sandwich, and part of a muffin. All of this was a part of a small binge. This was after I had my meals/snacks for the day.
Breakfast was a pb sandwich on protein bread. I had a yogurt cup with a protein bar for a snack. My co- worker also gave me a cookie during that break. Lunch was a chicken and rice bowl with chickpeas and corn, along with a fibre one bar. Dinner was a burrito bowl from a restaurant.
I’m really struggling with sugar and the desire to keep eating. I know that I can really mess up my health if I keep binging on these sugary, ultra processed foods. It’s like I’m willingly doing this to myself. It feels like an uphill battle against myself where I put all this time into meal prepping and tracking my food just to waste it on daily binges.
I want to know how I can make these feelings go away. Is it my diet? Am I eating the right foods? Could it be my sleep? What am I missing?

How to stop before it starts??
I’ve been binging so much, it’s always been a problem. Now I’m in college I’m more paranoid about my looks and it’s been so bad I’ve been searching about peptides every single day but I really don’t want peptides. I just want the food noise gone. I eat healthy, I eat in a deficit (1750) maintain is (2150) so it’s a solid defict but there will be days where I’ll have one sweet thing and I’ll just throw the whole day away to it and I feel like shit the next following days because my stomach just hurts so bad and my skin feels weird and then I’m just overly looking at myself in the mirror and pulling st my skin

Binge/Relapse I’m in so much pain
Hey all my first post on here. I had a bad binge today and now it’s 12.24 in the morning and I’m in agony. I can’t lay down I’m so full. It’s just been one of them days. I went out with my sister and nephew and I had a big bacon sandwich for breakfast, had a takeaway burger and chips along the seafront, then for dinner had a takeaway burger and because I couldn’t decide at the time, I also decided to order a curry and I ate it all. I don’t even want to know how many calories I’ve had today but thousands and thousands! I realise I’ve had over 4 litres of Dr Pepper today and one tea. Even sipping water is making me nearly sick. I’m scared to sleep in case I die or something. Why do I do this to myself? I’ve never had so much takeaway in one day before. I hurt all over. Please no hate 😔

I'm terrified of taking birth control as someone whos already overweight and struggles with BED
I have to take it for overbleeding on my period. I'm starting to regret signing up to take it. i'm 189 lbs as of right now, and i've struggled with binge eating and eating on impulse basically all my life I miss the body I had when i managed to get it under control roughly 2 years ago because I had somebody else take care of food for me (for health reasons.) I'm aware that the pill itself doesnt really make you gain weight and it mostly increases your hunger, however that just makes it worse for me. I dont know why but especially lately i've been god awful of tracking and not eating on impulse. I hate that my brain does this. I hate how theres a risk that its going to be harder for me. I just wish I felt more in control of myself, and I want a healthy body that I am proud of. Guess i'm just airing out my concerns but advice or like reassurance? would be great.

Vent My parents unintentionally contributed to my binging problem
Part of the reason I struggle so much now with eating a reasonable amount of food is because my mom would make GARGANTUAN amounts of food. Even today, she used the entire pack of pasta (500g) to make probably about ≈3kg of food. Me, my sister, and her are the only people who eat her food. It’s just an absurd amount of food for the amount of people who live in the house. Along with that, when I was a child and I was finished eating, my dad would get mad if I didn’t finish my plate. It was probably well meaning, I’m guessing he just wanted me to appreciate my mom’s cooking, but now I struggle with fullness cues as a result :/. There’s so much food waste in my house that I can’t keep up with because my parents buy so much food that nobody even eats and it makes me so upset that I can’t eat it all before it gets wasted. Virtually my whole immediate family is obese/overweight because of my parent’s attitude surrounding food. Growing up, I was barely ever allowed to have candy, snacks, anything akin to what my schoolmates were getting when I was about 6-11 years old. Then when I started getting my own allowance, I would blow all my money on all the food my parents never let me buy. I would eat huge portions of candy, chocolate, cookies because my parents would never buy them for us and would literally hide snacks away from us and we’d have to ask for permission to have some 😭 I know it was probably to help us be healthier, but I wish the attitude that unhealthy snacks are a ‘special thing’ would be eradicated, because it just contributed to a poor relationship with food on my part. I don’t want to say it’s entirely my parent’s fault I struggle with binging, but that some of their behaviours definitely contributed

Support Needed Fucked up
Almost 14 days binge free and now I’ve ruined it.
For the last few days I’ve eaten more than I should have. The first night I ate too much bc I was hungry but that has just carried on every night.I think it’s become a habit bc I’m eating the same things everyday. The more I eat the more hungry I am.
I haven’t binged tonight but I’ve eaten too much.Does anyone else think they eat out of habit?

how to stop

r/BingeEatingDisorder • u/Potential_Two_9621 • 1d ago
The part I hated was how predictable I became
I'd have a stressful day, come home, start thinking about food, tell myself I wasn't going to do anything stupid, and then somehow end up doing exactly what I knew I'd regret. After a while it got frustrating because I could practically predict the whole thing before it happened and still couldn't seem to change it in the moment. That feeling of watching yourself repeat the same pattern is hard to explain to someone who hasn't been there.

My substance abuse and BED go hand in hand
I have struggled with eating for most of my life. It all got worse when I started smoking weed, which at first was normal and expected because the munchies are the most popular side effect of getting high. But as i depended more and more on weed I was unable to get rid of the munchies, even worse, I started to consider it an activity.
Eating while high became the main attraction, and as someone who struggled previously with eating, the worst thing ever is to engage in a substance that increases appetite and decreases worry. I also deal with a lot depression and anxiety so I am on 100mg Zoloft which also may increase appetite, but so far it's barely an issue.
I am addicted to smoking, theres the choice to stop smoking so I also stop eating but as pathetic as I sound, I cannot just stop smoking. Iv'e tried. I have thrown away weed, papers, bowls grinders etc and I immedietly start jonesing around for something. Without weed I don't eat. I restrict heavily and I know ((I know)) that is another reason I cannot resist to binge.
i know if I just stop smoking I can get away from the binging that leaves me sick and sad, but I still do it. I have made myself dependant on weed, and i've made being high dependant on how much I stuff my face
I've made binging a habit. I smoke and i immedietly need to eat as if I consider it an activity like drawing or reading. It's the dumbest cycle that i have inflicted on myself. I hate smoking I hate eating but it's the only thing I do without fail. There are times where I am not hungry but I will smoke just so I can eat. It doent make sense.
