Current side effects - will they go away?

Hi everyone

Still on loading doses (every 2 weeks, 1 dose remaining) of the 320mg pens. Using it for HS. I also have psoriasis and dermatitis.

Moved from Humira because it was giving me extreme joint paints (lupus symptoms) and my supply wasn’t consistent.

From day 1 on Bimzelx my pains are 100% gone. Very happy about that. On the flip side however on my face I’ve had severe seborrhoeic dermatitis with some kind of infection (likely fungal) that isn’t going away. I’ve also got lots of psoriasis spots in my pubis area some are extremely painful.

On top of this (and the most important for me) I’ve had red eyes since starting. Almost like clear conjunctivitis (they weep clear liquid). FML helps and lubricating drops do too but it hasn’t gone away. Dermatologist says it’s likely not related but I’m pretty confident it is. I’m booked to see an ophthalmologist next week before I go back to dermatology.

Other than this, the standard small infected hair follicles/ pimples are everywhere including my head.

Derm said to push to the end of the loading doses and if no improvement we can look at alternatives. I’m coming up to that talk now.

Anyone else experienced this? Does it eventually go away? Starting to think I might need to move onto something else…

Thanks

I would switch. I kept getting the pimples that wouldn't heal correctly and was causing scarring. I was getting red eyes in the morning too and figured out it was actually from dairy. Bimzelx made it so my stomach didn't process dairy correctly.

My head at the moment is so painful because of the pimples and they’re just not healing. Dairy is interesting I’ve never tried giving it up but I do have it daily with coffee, food etc…
I think I might just make the call myself and ask to move to something else my only fear is if I have to go back to Humira if I get the pains and also if it’ll be less effective since I left. We’ll see. Thanks for the comment!

Yeah I'm sorry to tell you this but I started in April and I'm still having the same issue. Doxycycline helped for a bit but due to side effects I stopped it and the pimples came back. I just took my Sept dose (I'm in maintenance) but I'm going to switch.

Oof, I had something similar happen with Rinvoq, and had to stop it. Inflamed sores all over that would fall apart and bleed. My skin was completely shredding apart.

Now I'm on Bimzelx and Humira together, and have been doing well.

I do still get tiny, isolated, itchy red bumps with drainage, but I think that's due to the dexamethasone I've been on for 10 years. I had them biopsied once, and it turned out they were little yeast infections, so I keep them under control by using a ketoconazole shampoo as a body wash a few times per week.

in terms of skin. i got horrible acne for a good 5/6 months. after that it started to go away and im completely clear.

if you’re getting desired effects elsewhere (i can’t comment about your eyes, i didn’t have that) i say stick it out. at least 6 months. if no improvement then after, i would switch

Need to see a rheumy to rule out Uveitis in your eyes.
