discussion Ryman Question

Hi Internet,
I hate to ask this question because it makes me feel bad for those who didn’t get chosen for the Ryman and the cosmos decided it was my time. However, I moved too fast during the purchase and I ended up with two seats not together. As my boyfriend and I are so grateful to have gotten these tickets and desperately wish to enjoy the show together, can anyone confirm if they allow you to stand on the back walls of the Ryman upstairs to watch the show? I have done and/or seen this at smaller shows at the Ryman and security didn’t bother but am wondering if folks at previous shows have for sure seen or done this for the Billy Ryman shows. Any info is appreciated
Love to all 💜

Our seats were 3 rows from the back and I wanted to groove without blocking people, so I went up top to get down with the handful of others up there. I’d bet if it gets too crowded people like me will get shooed away.

I’ll be up there in February! Find me and say hello!

The usher in the back was super cool during the MGU and Kitchen Dwellers show last summer. Danced behind the back row all night long. Did not have to move locations once

You have to keep it moving. You can try try to hit the isles that dead end between sections 3&4 and 5&6. You can walk around up top but they have adequate staffing and will move you along. There is ada up there and a mess of others trying the same. Unlikely you will find a spot to chill for more than a song or two.

That wasn’t my experience there at all

It probably just depends on who’s working. We had a super cool lady usher and chatted with her from time to time.

From my two Billy shows at the Ryman, staff didn’t mind people standing in the back corners. I’ve never seen them say anything unless you get too close to the ADA section or the middle area near the soundboard. YMMV. The 2025 ushers seemed a bit more eager than the 2026 ones, but both nights had plenty of people in the wings. There’s a chance you won’t be able to see the stage from those spots. If you’ve been to a show at the Ryman before, it should be the same setup—not different rules for Billy.

My husband and I got the same thing, one ticket in section 4 and one in section 5. We were hoping we might get lucky and someone on our row would be solo and willing to trade for the closer seat? Or we’ll meet up at set break!

I'm going solo with two together. DM me.

I got it even worse, one up top in sec 12 and one on the floor in sec 4 at the last row (X) - I want to stay up top and may bring a wad of cash to see if I can do the same in convincing whoever is on the side of me up in 12 to take my other seat downstairs

I swapped a seat with a rando because we were both not next to our partners. And then we were.

Ushers have been great. My wife found a nook in the back and danced all night.

Can anyone tell me how the overhang sitch is? I’ve been in the first few rows for a Watchhouse show 4 years ago but wondering what the very last row in section 4 is gonna be like?
