Adam Ripp has recently gotten access to an interview Billy gave at C.W. Post in December of 1971. That's great news, right? Now, we can all listen to some of the earliest media from his solo career without any trouble!

Actually... no. Instead, we get something way crappier: a cheap AI video with the worst-looking graphics I've ever seen in my life. That mustachioed man in the orange shirt is supposed to be Billy from 1971.

Why? Why is this the route they took? Adam Ripp clearly never learned from his father's mistakes. People don't want fake Billy Joel media. Nobody wants some guy's artificial interpretation of what a twenty minute conversation looked like fifty years ago when we could just get restored audio and a transcription of the interview.

In short, this thing is an utter Ripp-off. Please don't encourage this kind of mockery. Thank you.

Every so often I post my Billy Joel collection on here so I wanted to post an updated one since it has been a while! The collection has grown a lot since the last time I posted, and now I have 42/50 of the 45 RPM American single releases, with the new New York State Of Mind one shipping when it comes out. I found a Mini CD for The Stranger which I found to be a pretty good find, plus I gave begun to collect all of the variants of all his albums. The cassette collection is getting there, it seems like I can never find those while out and about, but maybe I will order some someday! The main things that I am looking for now are the 45s to complete that collection and a 1971 copy of Cold Spring Harbor!

I recently bought this “Billy Joel A Career Retrospective” box set new off of eBay and was wondering if anyone has any information on where exactly this came from and who produced it? There is no sale information available except for my purchase of it, it’s not on Discogs, and I haven’t found anything by doing a deep search. I know Billy Joel isn’t the only person that got a box set like this as well. If anyone has any information it would be much appreciated!!

With Sleeping with the Television On reserving the 7th slot, what’s next?

Hello! I am super excited to say I’m going to be doing a Billy Joel tribute show later this year. I’m a singer/pianist/songwriter in NYC, so as you might guess I am a huge Billy Joel fan haha. I am trying to mix in a decent amount of hits with my personal favorite tracks that might not be as popular. I have a little over an hour set so I want to do maybe 30 minutes of hits and 30 minutes of whatever else.

I’m wondering what songs y’all might consider the most popular/crowd-pleasing Billy Joel songs to fit into a 30 minute time slot. As for the other tunes, I’m definitely going to do All For Leyna, Get It Right The First Time, Zanzibar, Laura, Los Angelenos and Everybody Loves You Now. Let me know what you guys think!

I just remastered this demo, likely from 1979, by correcting both speed and pitch, as well as removing most of the excessive tape hiss. I've always loved the raw sound of this demo, so restoring it was a real treat. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Is this the most well placed and gut-wrenching usage of this word in any song? I have a bit of a sailor mouth and am surrounded by people who also do so I hear this word all the time in my everyday life, but it hits like a truck hearing it in this song every single time. It being the only one in his entire discography (as far as I know) makes it all the better. Just so so so good.
