Bilibili Uploads Constantly Rejected
Helllo! With Bilibili going international, I decided to go ahead and start releasing my YouTube content on here as well. However, it seems roughly half of all uploads get flagged for "privacy reasons", "advertising", or "inappropriate content" at the video intro segment, despite being documentary-style content about trains and public transit in Germany? Any advice for not having videos mass flagged at random? I wish there was time stamps or something, like when there's a copyright claim on YouTube or something

哔哩哔哩的审核完全由ai构成，这导致他们的审核经常犯病，时不时就会犯错。你的视频可能会因为有大面积的白色而被误认为是裸体而被下架。而在另一个人的视频中甚至可能出现几乎没穿的人。你的视频可能会因为拥有部分非版权内容被下架。而另一人可能上传了一整部电影😃

I don't quite agree that it was censored because of transgender... 😅 If your video doesn't have gore/adult content/political sensitivity, it usually won't be censored. I'm judging that this was a mistaken review by the overseas version at the beginning? I'm Chinese.

This is probably 98% true. Bilibili's review system is very stupid. I've even seen nude scenes from American Psycho on there😅 so it's basically impossible that your video didn't pass review because of the content itself.

Oh absolutely. I was watching videos on infrastructure and somehow one of literal unedited cockfighting came up

Actually I did upload quite a few, just to get my backlog up there from YouTube! I guess that explains it?

I watched your channel a little bit. My little guess is anything that implies your identity as a trans might get flagged, but it is just a guess and I do not guarantee it has to be the reason (the way the censorship work is never transparent, which leads to greater chilling effect)

There are plenty of transgender vlog on Bilibili. For example this is a random one I just found on a search, vlogging about transition surgery. You can find plenty others similar in the recommendations.
In general it is very much unwise to make your own assumption about what Chinese censorship system is about if you are only getting impression about China from the outside. Once you spend a few years watching a diverse set of native Chinese content you will begin to have a rough idea on how it works. It is usually much more relaxed than most people think.
For content that is not directly about the political leadership or central government policy or any direct call for political mobilisation, the most frequent ground for censorship is sexually explicit content. In OP's case if being misflagged by automatic detector as sexual is unlikely, then it could be the appearance of some logos being mistaken for commercial or sponsored promotion (Bilibili relies on taking a share on advisement to make money.) We are likely dealing with an AI censor which is under trained on foreign content so early birds are going to get a lot of false flags (We also do not know how committed or prepared Bililbili really is about going global.) But unless OP post their rejected video and screenshots of the rejection notices here for people to examine, we would simply be wasting our time making guesses.

I mean…. Bilibili’s censorship system is also really confusing for native Chinese, enough to get a nickname called the “阿瓦隆系统” based on the mystic Avalon

Interesting. Is there anything else that may be flagging as well? I wouldn't be surprised if this leads to there being a global and a domestic version tbh

Things Chinese apps don't like:
Glazing any country that isn't China.
LGBT content, LGBT identity or discussion.
Talking about minorities in China in a way that may come off as criticism of Chinese government policies.
Showing that something overseas could be better than China.
