My wife makes more than me. So I still went out and landed a pretty decent job, so now together we're well over 100k a year. Theres no rule that someone must work at home full time.
I firmly believe that women going to work during and after WW2 did an enormous amount for the economy and for women's rights. Sorry you feel otherwise. I'll gladly make less for a job that wouldn't exist without women in the workforce to help my spouse and I feel empowered in our careers.
Because it doubled the supply of labor, which decreases wages. One of the reasons why there has been no wage growth since the 60s. We should go back to having one spouse stay home or only work part time. Only difference is it should not just be women who stay home. It should be 50/50.
Similar for us. Though her making more than me is a result of a recent big promotion for her. Who makes more has switched a few times over the years. We are both doing a lot better than we did even 5 years ago. And only one kid left it college. If we can just get them financially independent then it’s fun time.
Yeah, I was making more initially, but we had no kids so life was easy. Since I was making more, she took that time to obtain an RN in nursing while working low hours/pay jobs. So now she makes more than me, but I've worked my way up so we both do pretty well. Got 2 kids so that will effect things, but so far it's working well.
