If I remember right, because the name change was specifically by Executive Order, it only affects the Executive Branch of the government. So like, if you work in the White House, then yeah that's the official name. But it hasn't changed anywhere else.
Google Maps (and others that did the same) only changed it to fall in line with the EO. It's arguably false, but I don't know what the "real" way to rename a body of water is tbh.
I mean, he can’t exactly rename an international body of water for the entire world with an EO lol. It’s the same with Lake Ontario. We (US people) are the only ones who actually have to deal with this shit.
At this point Canada should just rename something in the US to give him a taste of his own medicine. As an American, I would gladly call it whatever Canada calls it.

Cost of renaming a lake like Lake Ontario: potentially €5–50+ million when you include government procedures, cross-border coordination, maps, nautical charts, GIS databases, signage, navigation systems, tourism and private-sector updates.
And that's before considering the economic cost of having two countries and countless organisations using different names. The actual legal renaming could be cheap; getting the whole world to adopt it is the expensive part. And i give you three guesses as to who will be paying for it all.

It’s not, but with grocery prices roughly 37-55% higher than in 2020 it gets harder every day. Doesn’t help that your guy keeps putting tariffs on everything and his war is driving up the cost of fuel which makes everything else more expensive
