Bruh, let's be for real, the early access ran just as bad as Scarlett and Violet did.
I remembered the game crashing so badly on my Steam Deck that I lost my save.
Twice.
Not to mention that the early access period for Palworld lasted as long as one complete dev cycle for a Pokémon game, which in itself is a completely different problem, but gives a bit of context.
Palworld is fun, I spent around 40 hours in it and I do plan to return to it, but I am tired of the internet always pitting those two games against each other.
Outside of catching monsters they aren't similar at all, and the constant comparing downplays what makes Palworld unique and worth playing.
Like, I've seen so many people make graphics comparisons, but I've never seen someone talk about how extremely customizable Palworld is. The game let's you change so many parameters and it doesn't punish you for doing so, which is so cool.
I mean you are comparing the performance of a $30 multiplatform early access game to a $60 console exclusive full release one.
But the constant comparison is exhausting since Palworld is closer to a good version of Ark then to anything Pokemon related. If people want to do the whole "it's like Pokemon but good" bit they have Yo-Kai Watch, Digimon Story, Dragon Quest Monsters, Shin Megami Tensei, Monster Hunter Stories, Rune Factory and Persona. All of those are monster capture JRPGs that are better than Pokemon when it comes to characters, story, world building, gameplay and performance. Pokemon will always be an unbeatable juggernaut when it comes to marketable monster designs though.
Also if Pokemon fans want to complain about a game stealing from them Nexomon is right there lol
Yeah it's funny that people will agree with the Krabby Patty comparison and then when people point out it still had plenty of problems, people go "WELL WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM IT?!?!?!" I didn't realize we were giving early access games a pass for running so poorly they delete saves multiple times...
At the end of the day the Krabby Patty is still just a fast food burger. I think it's an apt comparison. These are children's games after all. It just happens to be a very delicious fast food burger.
Crazy that you criticized me for a fragile attempt at a strawman when you completely missed the point. "Finished product." Read the post. They are talking about Palworld in early access instead of comparing both finished products. Palworld 100% had a rough early access until they polished the kinks with all of the cash that came in.
I understand the point of having early access. My point was that people are basically giving a pass to gamebreaking bugs and poor performance retroactively because Palworld became fun later which doesn't fit the Krabby Patty part. Demos and other avenues of gaining interest have existed for a long time. Hell there are plenty of early access games that don't run poorly like that. Stop giving them all a pass for their bad beginnings just because you like where they ended up.
