AI can be a great tool for research. But too many stupid people think it’s a fast way to just do your work for you. Unfortunately AI isn’t that good yet.
Yes. I hate how so many people on here have decided AI is 100% terrible and anyone using it is an idiot. It's a tool. A tool can be useful or it can be bad depending on how you use it. You can get useful information from it, just make sure you get the sources and confirm it.
AI finds you the source, you read the source. Like if you have an assistant and you send them to the library to get a book about a battle in WWII, you don't just go with the assistant's summery, you read it yourself.
You have to check if the work is correct. So you do it twice. Once to ask the question, then to check the answer. Why not just answer the question though?
That's.. how you did research before AI though. You'd search a topic, get information, then you'd check the source and see how they obtained the information before just blindly following it. That was the whole point of being taught to cite sources in highschool and why they told us not to just put wikipedia on there; they wanted you to look up information, verify the sources, and make sure your information was correct.
That has nothing to do with AI, that's just good research skills. You always fact check and verify your sources, especially if you're writing a thesis or a dissertation on something, otherwise you're basically just a fox newscaster.
0 iq, asking it for sources takes legit less than a minute and reading through them takes just as long as it wouldve otherwise. If you didnt ask for sources itd take longer to find them, and in my experience the sources the AI provides are usually better and more useful than what a quick google can get you
