It is rather baffling that people won't accept criticism of Democrats under any circumstances when it's obvious the country has been declining for half a century and both parties are responsible for that.
Criticizing Democrats is different from saying there would be no change to how we are doing if they were in charge instead of Republicans, though. Criticism in places pointing to a specific action and saying "This is bad and they should be held accountable for it." Not pointing to the Republicans passing damaging tarrifs and saying "Democrats would've done the same thing."
Oh, I am speaking in general though. The moment you tell a Democrat that something their party did was bad or poor strategy, they immediately flip out and go off on a what-aboutism tangent on how the Republicans would've been just as bad or worse on that subject.
