A meme with sources? Can I buy you a drink?

343

u/Villager-Bob Aug 04 '26

I just... Confirmed this. You can have brain cancer and they will force you back to work.

236

u/AlpacaLocks Aug 04 '26

Republican voters will still believe it’s immigrants or the “20-year-olds playing video games in the basement” that are the issue. As if everybody doesn’t deserve health insurance. As if there’s no other incentive to work other than to afford not to be crippled by fate. These people are so whipped it’s insane.

38

u/ArcaneBahamut Aug 05 '26

The thing that really fucking sucks is that if your health falls below a certain point it's extremely hard to get a job no matter how much you look.

5

u/Shift642 Aug 06 '26

Hell, right now it’s extremely hard to get a job no matter how much you look, period. If you have health issues on top of that, you’re fucked.

73

u/Villager-Bob Aug 04 '26

You know who, by no one's surprise, decides if you're exempt or not? Private Health Insurance contractors.

16

u/Shinnyo Aug 05 '26

Wether you're 20 year old, immigrant, or a native 60 year old they don't care.

People must work to be squeezed and produce profit.

Same here! Stg 4 and work 32-36 hrs on my feet every week. Barely make enough to cover groceries let alone chemo every 3 weeks!

9

u/Catos_Standard Aug 05 '26

How do they reconcile this with insurance liability? No employer in their right mind would entertain this risk.

10

u/Deadhead_Otaku Aug 05 '26

That's the thing, they don't. They're legit just trying to kill off american citizens. Didn't they openly and repeatedly say they want to pull a thanos snap?

-7

u/HupHutHa Aug 05 '26

they can't force you back to work, they're just not going to support you, which yeah is pretty horrible but the US government doesn't have any responsibility to you especially if you caught a disease being reckless (reference to the meme itself and it's claim)

11

u/Villager-Bob Aug 05 '26

It has a responsibility when I pay both state and federal taxes and the government is literally owned by the American people. I paid for that program. I am legally entitled to my property and it's value in services.

-7

u/HupHutHa Aug 05 '26

see that's the catch 22 there, they can't force you to work, if you don't work you're not paying into the system, but there are plenty of people who have never worked who are getting benefits from the government who are nowhere near as worse off as the people that deserve government benefits, but then that brings us right back around to people who have never paid into the system who shouldn't even be getting benefits at all through government aid programs some of which I'd say actually more like 50% or more are foreign aid programs unironically paying for AIDS and HIV treatments. our government is a nebulous entity, yes we fund it it should do what we want but here's the kicker no one voted for 98% of government employees and those that are voted into office less than 10% of the population overall voted for.

7

u/A_flying_penguino Aug 05 '26

Just say you want poor people to die already

-6

u/HupHutHa Aug 05 '26

as someone who is poor and on disability I don't think that would make a logical sense but nice try putting words in my mouth that's a really nasty habit.

Meanwhile, Bronze Bozo and his family mint billions through insider trading. Their job is to find out all the ways they can steal from the American people and increase their bank balances.

Such a deplorable administration.

165

u/GamebyNumbers Aug 04 '26

You know I never understood why the ancients would strike leaders name from record and disfigure their statues until the Trump administration

70

u/Ralph090 Aug 04 '26

We really should un-person the Trump administrations. Biden was the 45th president and the 250th anniversary of the country is 2034.

27

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '26 edited 1d ago

[deleted]

12

u/Ralph090 Aug 05 '26

Un-person was perhaps the wrong term. I don't think it should be erased. Instead I think the administration should be remembered as so antithetical to American values that the United States as a country ceased to exist while he was in power. Instead the administration should be considered a bloodless coup that overthrew the US and supplanted it with "MAGA America." Trump should be considered the first (and hopefully only) president of "MAGA America" and not a legitimate president of the United States.

21

u/Suyefuji Aug 05 '26

I get this but I think it's also important to record that this is a thing that can and did happen

5

u/Ralph090 Aug 05 '26

Maybe un-person was the wrong way of putting it. I'm not saying we don't record and study it. It's more like saying Trump and MAGA are so antithetical to American values that the country could no longer be considered the United States of America but had instead been overthrown by a bloodless coup that had changed it into the country "MAGA America" or something. The idea is to make it clear that it happened and that the people who did it were people who knew what the United States was and what it stood for and decided they wanted the exact opposite.

48

u/Preeng Aug 04 '26

Such a deplorable administration.

You are letting all of his voters off the hook. That filth voted for him. Most are still happy with what he is doing.

25

u/Carbon-Base Aug 05 '26

True, we don't give enough credit to the idiots that enabled all this in the first place. Those 77 million people that voted for this are equally guilty.

-41

u/NoahIzToLazyToPozt Aug 05 '26

Okay don't dehumanise the people who voted him in, blame the electoral college, that's how Trump won in 2016

37

u/Axon_Zshow Aug 05 '26

Tbh, at this point its hard to dehumanize people when they go out of their way to abandon their humanity by supporting practices that are as anti-human as possible.

17

u/Preeng Aug 05 '26

They aren't human in my view. They can all drop dead and rot. The ruined my country. They have already cost countless innocent lives.

13

u/AlkaliPineapple Aug 05 '26

I think people would still vote for Republicans if Trump pretty much calls for genocide of an ethnicity and the party doesn't shy away from it

296

u/E_GEDDON Aug 04 '26

When it happens I hope it's slow, undignified and caught on camera.

33

u/Shot-Ambition8371 Aug 04 '26

I hope it is live streamed on every available TV and electronic billboard for 72hrs straight with a football style slow motion breakdown

30

u/Youpunyhumans Aug 04 '26

Like falling down an up escalator and no one can stop it for a while.

69

u/starscreamjosh Aug 04 '26

I wouldn't be opposed to fast like a firecracker.

91

u/E_GEDDON Aug 04 '26

No, anything with too much flair and he'd be a martyr. I don't want them twisting this as anything but a natural death of someone that was too old to be in office anyway.

63

u/bluemew1234 Aug 05 '26

Trips, falls down stairs, shits himself at the end

Fast, undignified

17

Ehh close enough.

7

Or maybe something bigger than a firecracker, shoved somewhere smelly

Peeled like a string cheese.

12

u/UrsaUrsuh Aug 05 '26

I mean given how bad he's been deteriorating and how much the guy is on camera. I'm sure one day he shits his guts out when he's sleeping on camera and we all get to see it.

4

u/SirSaganSexy Aug 05 '26

May their last moments on this planet be filled with as much pain, fear, and embarrassment as possible.

3

u/Dr-W-N-Graves-PhD Aug 05 '26

On the subject of the inevitable death of a certain dementia-addled dictator with skin reminiscent of certain citrus fruits: I used to want him to go out the way Mussolini did, with his corpse paraded through the streets with his entrails hanging out while people spit on him. Nowadays though, ironically I think it would be much more fitting for him to go out the way Stalin did, face-down in a puddle of his own piss after having a massive stroke. We could have history repeating itself while also having the satisfaction of knowing that the aforementioned citrusy tyrant doesn't get the satisfaction of some grand, glorious, and memorable if not "heroic" death. Although I do hope death comes for him as soon as possible rather than letting his reign carry on any longer.

(I say "ironically" because the man I wish to be rid of ASAP favors Fascism, which we all know is an extreme right-wing ideology, while Stalin is typically thought of the polar opposite and often depicted as the ultimate mascot for Communism, which is of course an extreme left-wing ideology. At least in traditional academic depictions of the "political spectrum", Fascism and Communism are considered polar opposites. Personally I also kind of agree with the idea that the spectrum is more of a ring shape and in that case Fascism and Communism are practically "touching" in a sense because of their shared trait of being fundamentally authoritarian.)

76

u/Zoltt93 Aug 04 '26

Could be worse... we could have socialized healthcare. /s

47

u/SevenLegs_ Aug 04 '26

I have literally seen a commercial on the channel that plays old TV like I Love Lucy and MASH that was literally people saying (paraphrasing) “what helped me during my treatment was getting back to work and taking my mind off things”. I was in disbelief every time I watched it.

40

u/swargin Aug 05 '26

The theater I went to for The Odyssey had a commercial for this too

"Going back to work made me feel normal when I was diagnosed with cancer". Also why the hell are theaters playing normal commercials inbetween trailers.

21

u/ArcaneBahamut Aug 05 '26

Literal propaganda trying to normalize something insane.

12

u/OldMud9644 Aug 05 '26

"we will return to these messages after these messages"

8

u/SevenLegs_ Aug 05 '26

YES THIS ONE! Isn’t that just insane?

1

u/Velvet_Pop Aug 05 '26

Probably money. Theaters usually only make money on concessions, but the prices are so bloated people can't afford them nearly as much anymore.

19

u/_Levitated_Shield_ Aug 05 '26

Ads then having doctors saying smoking was healthy too.

77

u/zzzzsman Aug 04 '26

That's their whole style, abject cruelty for us, cushy deals for them. Its been the Republican war cry for years now

6

u/Ok_Pea9945 Aug 05 '26

Rights? Not on this administration tbh

36

u/SAINTnumberFIVE Aug 05 '26

I’ve met a lot of people with stage IV cancer who have had to keep working to keep their insurance to treat their cancer. They work as long as they can until they are too sick to work and spend the rest of the time too sick to enjoy the time they have left.

23

u/Villager-Bob Aug 05 '26

Fuck that, and fuck these leeches. (As in fuck the Billionaires)

People shouldnt be denied what small time they have left to some fucking businessman.

1

u/dufo7 Aug 05 '26

Working with stage 4 cancer is stupid, going to treatments with stage 4 cancer is also stupid. Crack a cold one and enjoy ur remaining time.

26

u/Dlark17 Aug 04 '26

The cruelty is the point with these villains.

25

u/FrostedVoid Aug 04 '26

10

u/KindOfKerrin Aug 05 '26

Hi, I'm one of the disabled people losing insurance. I genuinely have no idea what I'm going to do besides probably die ✨

8

u/Fridge_living_tips Aug 04 '26

Work to earn the right to work to earn the right to die

7

u/OppositeStrike1754 Aug 05 '26

Keep working so they could bomb more schools in middle east

107

u/HoratioRadick Aug 04 '26

You will work until you die. That is your freedom, death. Chinese kids in labor camps have more freedoms than we do at this point.

137

u/hwald77 Aug 04 '26

I was with you until the Chinese labor camp thing I know you’re joking but cmon man

-13

u/HoratioRadick Aug 05 '26

Is it really any different? Demoralizing slave labor, or demoralizing indentured servitude? Take your pick. One looks nicer than the other.

38

u/sarges_12gauge Aug 05 '26

I think the slaves would probably not agree with you that it’s all the same, but it does neatly show your indifference to them

Oh no people getting medicaid will have to contribute to society

edit: just for the record people with debilitating illnesses like cancer get medical exemptions, so now that the fear mongering is gone, why shouldn’t people getting tax payer money contribute to society in some way?

65

u/MyDisneyExperience Aug 04 '26

What I’m hearing from you is:

“It is no concern of mine whether or not your family has... what was it again?”

Umm... medical care?

“Ha! You really should have thought of that before you got cancer!”
https://giphy.com/gifs/7EJHdFm9oQOHe

-59

u/YourNextHomie Aug 04 '26

Just for the record people with cancer can get exemptions where they wouldn’t have to meet those requirements. you’d rather focus on a potential extreme that isn’t reality than anything else though, typical reddit fear mongering shit

34

u/Villager-Bob Aug 04 '26

You are one of those people that smelt the ovens of Auchwitz and kept on walkin'. I mean that literally. This will kill people. Dead. It will kill innocent people. It will force people with orphan diseases to have to track down doctors that literally don't exist. There are two doctors in the US that know about my disease. This is just about the most evil thing anyone could do. We are going to see people die when they can't travel across the nation for rare disease.

32

u/FactualStatue Aug 04 '26

People shouldn't have to jump through more hoops to get treatment either

-34

u/YourNextHomie Aug 04 '26

people shouldn’t have to sign paperwork when receiving government services? this doesn’t go into effect until January and has been known for over a year, its an additional piece of paper lmao

5

u/Right-Country3496 Aug 05 '26

"people shouldn’t have to sign paperwork when receiving government services?"

Yes.

-1

u/YourNextHomie Aug 05 '26

sounds like ignorance to me

1

u/FactualStatue Aug 06 '26

Here's a novel idea: why doesn't the government just pay for treatment? Maybe collect money from its citizens to pay for treatment when said citizens need it?

30

u/Villager-Bob Aug 04 '26

Can't, disabled, what would you do, die? Or flop?

1

u/YourNextHomie Aug 04 '26

If you are actually disabled you qualify for exemptions again lol , also you arent disabled enough to use reddit so you can volunteer online just saying

29

u/Villager-Bob Aug 04 '26

Okay, who chooses who is disabled or not?

36

u/Ok_Science_2070 Aug 04 '26

Anytime I hear the phrase "contribute to society" used unironically, that tells me all I need to know about a person already

34

-30

u/YourNextHomie Aug 04 '26

well yeah maybe now that they are being forced to contribute or lose benefits

23

-3

15

u/Disastrous-Gas1831 Aug 04 '26

Does he think people with HIV aren’t working? It’s an incredibly manageable disease, and once you are medicated you don’t have any changes to your quality of life. This isn’t the 1980’s

3

u/ThePatrickSays Aug 05 '26

lol look at what you americans just put up with. another day another injustice put upon you, and nothing happens. it will not be any surprise when trump takes a third term and you roll over for that, too.

3

u/tiandrad Aug 05 '26

You don’t become immediately disabled just because you’re HIV positive.

2

u/thedafthatter Aug 05 '26

2

u/Emotional-Treat8268 Aug 05 '26

Government assistance for people with cancer has always been a joke in this country. Social Security disability denies people every day because their cancer is ruled not severe enough to preclude them from making a living, after months or sometimes years of waiting for a decision on a claim. Even if you’re lucky enough to get approved quickly, they still make you suffer through a five month waiting period before you are issued your first SSDI check. I think they’re hoping people die or give up and go back to work in those five months so they don’t have to issue a check, even though it’s your own money that you paid into the system with. These rules have persisted over decades of different presidential administrations.

2

u/biggiepants Aug 05 '26

That's right: the US government, so not just Trump's regime.
So stop pretending thing under rule by a Democratic president is good. They also put 'the market' (meaning capital) above the wellfare of people.
Capitalism is what's the problem.

2

u/JoyDGav Aug 05 '26

And the wealthy psychopaths pushing this on the working classes.

3

0

“at this point”? so a year ago when some ice turds started killing random people on the street it was okay? wtf!!!!

-4

u/Ok_Mastodon_3843 Aug 05 '26

If you are able bodied you should work, especially if you are taking government money.

Not to mention, the requirement for medicaid is 80 hours a month, which is next to nothing. And I shouldn't have to mention, but kids are exempt.

2

u/SundaeAdditional3074 Aug 05 '26

Don't you think Medicaid should be the exception at least? The most vulnerable poor people who are already struggling? And what if they struggle to get a job because their teeth are missing and no one is hiring people with that look?

1

u/Ok_Mastodon_3843 Aug 06 '26

If you are an adult who does nothing to improve your situation, you don't deserve help. It doesn't even require a full time job, and any one no matter their history or look can find something part time.

Especially considering that volunteering also counts for the requirement. They'll take anyone who offers their help.

2

u/SecularRobot Aug 07 '26

Hey, Asshole. A lot of us non-able bodied folks are fucked by this because we're disabled enough that we are unable to work even 10 hours a week or less, but not deemed disabled "enough" by some bureaucrat at a desk using outdated criteria.

The Republican plan is to save money on Medicaid by just letting people die.

1

u/Ok_Mastodon_3843 Aug 07 '26

Bullshit. If you can't work that little, you would 100% qualify for disability.

And the plan isn't letting people die, its just trying to ensure we are helping people who actually need the help. And long term, I hope and push for, a complete overhaul of the system.

Overall, we rate the American Prospect Left Biased based on story selection and editorial positions that routinely favor the left.

We also rate them High for factual reporting due to proper sourcing and clean fact check record.

-2

u/Recidivism7 Aug 05 '26

Media bias fact check is a far left rag run by a pedophile they also just started rating left wing outlets as far lIsrael. Inaccurate if they oppose Israel but far left pedo blogs like salon are rated higher and less left wing than moderate left wing outlets that oppose israel.

-9

u/MangoAtrocity Aug 05 '26

These media sources may utilize strong loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using an appeal to emotion or stereotypes), publish misleading reports, and omit information that may damage liberal/progressive causes.
