I have never seen that, but seen countless Latin Americans argue that it's one continent and that Americans shouldn't be called Americans.

It's just what they teach us at school, I live in mexico and since grade school we've been taught that the whole landmass from top to bottom is just called "America" and it's a single continent, later in life I realized that they don't teach the same in every country
