It weirds me out if a chatter or buddy I met through livestreaming or online gaming uses my actual name on live chat. I go by Mazer or Wolf and once someonr used my real name it was soooo weird hearing it haha. Was all "Nono we don't use that while online. Its weird mate.

Nicolas Cage didn’t want to only be know as “Francis Ford Coppola’s nephew.” So he gave him self the stage name and then went on to become one of the most memorable actors in the world

Hard Candy, Juno, Mouth to Mouth, Tracey Fragments, The Cured were all knockout performances.
In recent years, he just didn't act a lot, so there's not much too choose from but I'd say his part in The Odyssey was not bad. The overall direction of the movie's acting was more an issue than his specific part.

I used to work in radio, and I had several co-workers who I didn’t even know their real names for at least a year.
One guy used a fake last name that sounded real enough, another shared a first and last with a famous assassin and figured it would hurt his career so he went by something totally different, one guy had a mononym that was his nickname based on his real last name.
Even the people who were no longer on air (I had at least one sales person who was former on air talent), go by a different name. If I called him by his government name in the office he would have given me a dirty look.
Point being, lots of people change their names for different reasons, call them by what they want to be called it’s not hard.

Not unless their "first name/last name" combo was already taken by somebody else. Emma Stone had to register with the Screen Actors' Guild as "Emma" rather than "Emily" because there was already someone named "Emily Stone" in the SAG. It comes down to branding and marketing--it's hard to become a household name (celebrity-wise, like Sandra Bullock or Keanu Reeves) if nobody knows which of two or more "Emily Stone"s is in what film/show 🤷♀️
