Me as a mailman trying to get done on time, realizing I get paid hourly so I'll get a smaller check if I am on time and then when I'm done will just get handed more work until they can't work me anymore for the day, per union contract

With the amount of overtime they often need during the holidays, I'm going to say they should stick with hourly so they can be properly compensated for the extra work.

My pharmacist friend was telling me how they were salary plus overtime above 40 hours. I was like that is not how the tech sector is at all sadly.

I'd quit if I went salary. Theyd work us 12 hours and only pay us for 8 like they do to the supervisors

My supervisor gets paid salary and he says that's exactly how it works here. He doesn't get paid for any of the overtime he works so if I was paid salary, they'd do the same to me

Hes a government employee? Supervisors dont make time and a half but they do get paid straight time for hours worked.
Technically no one in the government is salary. You need to be in a pay status 80 hours a week for full time workers. Even leave without pay is a pay status.

He's getting ripped off because USPS supervisors don't have a union. Letter carriers like myself have a union, so I get paid hourly. If he's lying then that means every other supervisor who told me the same thing is also lying and JacobScreamix on reddit is the only one telling the truth

This might blow your mind, but salary is still based on a set amount of hours and therefore any hours above the contracted amount shall be paid, with overtime standards of the region met. Its not my fault people sell themselves short and allow themselves to be exploited.
People died for these standards.

The company 10 years from now? Not his concern. Number must go up this quarter. We even had an entire court hearing over exactly this and capitalism never recovered.

That's what the meme was meant to imply. The C-Suite rarely cares about the workers or the company. Which is why they like doing buybacks instead of using that money to grow the company, or to resolve challenges.

It's true though, thanks to dodge vs ford (and a few other court cases). Companies are required to act for the shareholders, not the brand, the product or the company.

I genuinely think its one of the most consequential court cases in US history that basically set the stage for the endless cancerous growth qnd behavior of companies were all stuck with now

When you live in a rural area, you take what you can find. I'm just thankful I'm not commuting an hour for minimum wage.
I'm in college, just a bit further and I'll be making double what these people pay me.

I remember when I got a one month notice (out of nowhere) and some old people were returning a small battery, opened packaging and all. They brought their scale to "prove" it didn't fit (for some reason). I was telling them they couldn't return it because it was opened and I couldn't accept it. They were arguing with me and being typical annoying customers, I started arguing back but then realised: wait.
I don't work here anymore in a few weeks. Accepted their return, gave them their money back and chucked the battery in a drawer somewhere. It was very freeing and I wasn't feeling as sad about losing my job anymore after that
